My Siemens 10D52 washer & dryer stopped working after a power outage. The control panel showed a horizontal line and did not respond to any buttons I pressed. Please let me know how to fix it. Thanks.

You have a burnt out control panel from the power surge. File a claim with your local power company for the damage

Our dryer does not function after a slight power outage due to an electrical storm. The number 88 blinks for a minute then goes to 18 . There is no response to the control panel , no buttons work!

brand and model numbers would be very helpful. without this info, I would try unplugging, wait about a minute, then plug back in. sometimes units can be reset by just cycling the power. Good luck.

Control panel is not responding

Most likely, if power *is getting to the unit*, (there are lights lit on the washer), then the culprit will be a shorted user interface board(control panel). This is a fairly common type of issue with dishwashers. The soft-touch buttons or the touch panel has a shorted button or area(depending on the type you have) and nothing else will function because the unit thinks you're still pressing a control button. Also, a VERY common cause of this issue, aside from moisture or bugs, is a power outage damaging the console when power is restored due to a surge. After an outage where damage occurs, the symptoms don't usually start for about 3-4 weeks after due to damaged chips on the board starting to fail.

Why would my "Control Locked" light be on and my dryer won't respond?

The Control Lock is actually a safety feature that enables the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent small children from manipulating the controls and accidentally starting the appliance.

With the lock on, the control panel is disabled and you cannot use any of the controls, except the button to unlock it. It can inadvertently be set following a power outage, or by leaning against the control panel and is usually not an indication of a washer malfunction.

If this is a Whirlpool Duet, or Kenmore Elite series, the following link explains how to lock/unlock this feature:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608801-control_panel_lock

These instructions are printed on the front panel of the appliance and in the owner's manual.

If this does not correct your problem, then you may have a more serious problem than a simple operator control issue (such as an operator console problem or main control board issue). If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.
