Philips LC3132 runs 5 minutes and red lamp flashes/goes standby

The projector works fine for 6.5 minutes and then the red "lamp" button flashes and the projector switches into standby mode. After shutting down it will power up again and works for the 6 (or so) minutes before repeating the same problem.

SOURCE: Status light blinking red

If it is a lamp error try this:
When the lamp exceeds 2100 hoursof service, the projector cannot turn on and the manu is not displayed. Do the following:
For VT670/VT470 Press the help button on the remote control for a minimum of ten seconds.

For VT570/VT47 Press and hold the power and the exit buttons on the remote control simultaneously for a minimum of ten seconds. When the lamp time clock is reset to zero, the lamp indicator goes out. Hope this helps! :]

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. If the lamp has been replaced I would think the Lamp ballast would be most likliest followed by the color wheel and then the Digital board. You can get any part needed for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com just leave them a email they respond quickly.

Hi David IB

I've had teh same experience with a BenQ MP720 ( just the XGA version of your Projector )

I queried this with BenQ Engineer in Dubai and he said that it sometimes works exactly like a short on the machine.

If I could give you a tip , If it happens again don't put back the metal cover of the Mainboard it solves the problem 100%
