Could be faulty PSU,memory or mainboard itself is gone.
pull all parts except psu,1 stick of ram,1 HDD. If it boots, start adding parts one at a time until it doesnt boot..thats your trouble maker. IF it doesn't boot stripped down then it is like I said at first.

Spins but makes a beeping sound and wont register.

Well, It sounds like there is something lodged in your Hardware drive...The beeping is probably a warning signal to tell you that it is not properly booting up...You should go to a Computer Repairman...

Hi, I have a colleagues laptop here which seems to power up for a few seconds but then doesn't go any further. There is definitely power getting through the motherboard, and the HDD spins up, but...

I believe that is a No Post issue.
Its not the hard drive because you said " and the HDD spins up, but it seems as though it doesn't reach POST" or else you 'll be getting errors associated with the hard drive
There are some laptops even though it has a RAM NO POST issue will not beep
" no display and no beeping at all "
For us to determine if this a Motherboard Issue we have to disconnect all parts that can be disconnected. Disconnect the hard drive, Memory (RAM), battery, if you have a Modem daugther card, Express card, PCMCIA Card.
Try Turning the computer on using the Power Adapter hooked up on the computer. If you are still getting issues Definetly that is a Motherboard have gone bad but we really need to check up other parts that are disconnected

If Motherboard is good you will be getting video but it will stop on the POST screen and you might be hearing beep sounds as well. That means that the Motherboard is fine. Put the parts that are disconnected and clean the metal contacts as well one at a time and try to isolate at what part that is bad

It starts for about 10 seconds then shuts off.

I would need more information in order to solve this one.

What is the motherboard manufacturer and model number?

Does the motherboard give any beeps when you first turn it on or before it shuts off?

Does anything display on the monitor while it is on?

Can you tell if the hard drive spins up?

Do the fans spin up?

All of a sudden the pc wont work can start the pc and it's running but just getting a beepeing noise roughly every few seconds help please. Rich

The beeping your hearing is a code, Without knowing how many beeps it's hard to tell what is wrong, But usually indicates a Power Supply issue or even a motherboard issue those are extremes it could be that your hard drive is no longer booting, Or the operating system isnt being found, Usually though that beeping is not a good sign.
I would suggest when your computer starts beeping it is time to seek help from the pc repair shop in your area check craigslist usually some adds on there for inexpensive work

No display and no beep sound, CPU fan working

Hmmm, I have seen a few people reporting this problem with this motherboard... seems to me that it might be a bug in the bios. Well, I had exactly the same problem. It did not even give a beep sound when the memory was completely removed. I was convinced that the motherboard was faulty. Then I thought of trying the following that helped:

On the board the JCMOS1 has 3 pins and pins 1 and 2 are closed in normal operation. Moving the jumper to pins 3 and 4 puts the motherboard in clear CMOS memory mode. So this is what I tried; I move the jumper to pins 3 and 4, pressed power a few times (although I don't think that is necessary), and after about 30 seconds I moved the jumper back to pins 1 and 2. Then when I pressed power the motherboard FINALLY emitted a beep and started up. On first start up I got a message, something to the effect of "CMOS checksum error", but I was then able to go into the bios reset defaults. I then saved and went out and my motherboard has been working fine since then. Hope this helps someone who has a similar issue.

Emachine will not power up

By nothing else, from a technical standpoint this would mean literally nothing, the CPU fan, power supply fan, aux fan, disk drive not spinning up, etc. My experience with EMachines is their motherboards aint the best, have been known to take out hard drives and other peripherals to the mother board. If you are technically inclined the first thing to do is to bare out the system, Power Supply attached to the Mother Board w/ Cpu Monitor and Keyboard no Hard Drive and no Non esential boards installed, very carefully remove the memory and start it up all should be fine except it should give you a long beep from the PC Speaker indicating the Mother Board is aware there is no memory installed if it will not do this most basic of tests this is not good. If it does give you a health beep continue to install one item at a time, first the memory, the display should, if working, tell you there is a boot failure, of course, the hard drive is not connected, do so and keep on testing. Without knowing what type of mother board you have, most likely an AT with integrated peripherials the process to determine exactly what the problem is would take hands on trouble shooting. If you dont get the beep indicating the mother board cant determine if memory is installed and truley nothing else is on it is more likely the mother board. There are several good ones online that will fit your case if you want to go this route. Or is it time to upgrade ?

No display, no beep when ram is removed, power led flash for one time and sleeping

some computer do not come with an internal speaker. So then you would hear no beeps. Verify your pc has a internal speaker, either directly on the motherboard, or attached inside the case and plugged in to the motherboard. If you have a speaker, have removed the RAM, and hear nothing when powering on the system, you have a faulty motherboard. It would need to be replaced.

Laptop not working

It's possible that the motherboard has a problem and needs replaced. However, usually when this type of thing happens, it's with the memory, battery, or hard drive. A failing memory chip or malfunctioning battery are the two main causes for this. You can check these yourself by; 1- removing the battery and starting with the power suppl only, 2- removing the memory and try starting with one chip at a time, 3- remove the hard drive and see if the machine will go to the initial display screen. If these three don't work, then I'm afraid the problem is with the motherboard and it will need to be replaced. Unfortunately, HP has the most fragile and rather pricey motherboards on the market, so the problem may very well be with the board. If it is, take into consideration the cost of the repair and the cost of a new machine, it may be time for a new laptop.
