If you have used the self clean function you may have burned up the ignitor they are rated for about 1000 deg for just about a minute but when you clean it stays around 800-900 deg for about an hour or so. You may just need to replace the ceramic ignitor. as for the gas, the valve will only stay open for a few seconds, if the oven doesnt recognize a flame the gas valve will close.

I have a Maytag gas range model MGR 5729 ADW. My problem is this: 1. The igniter glows brightly 2. Burner will light with a strong woosh, but not until 2-3 minutes. 3. Burner goes out after about 30...

get in a gas fitter to properly diagnose the problem,
igniters in ovens normally click / flash as that ignites gas quicker than a hot wire so I suspect that is problem 1
problem 2 indicates that there is a gas flow problem, probably a faulty hose or regulator
what ever it is , gas is not in the domain of diy so an accredited professional gas fitter is required to do the fix

I have a Maytag LDG 4000 gas dryer with electronic ignition. The igniter glows, but does not ignite the gas. I can not smell any gas, so I'm assuming a valve of some sort, internal to the dryer, is not...

Igniter glows - No gas ignition. If the igniter heats
up but the main burner flame is not ignited, remove
power and using an ohmmeter, check the following:
• Open secondary coil
• Open holding coil
• Open wire harness
• Stuck flame sensor (Stuck closed)
Most likely bad gas valve coils.

Smelled mild gas odor after moving dryer. Replaced gas line connection. Still smell gas. Tried to tighten gas line have strong gas odor after running dryer. Does not seem to be heating

The gas valve should not be opening unless the glow igniter glows and sends a signal to the gas valve. I suspect a small leak in either the gas pipe or at the gas valve. You will have to get to the gas valve to perform a leak test. While the dryer is open, replace the igniter.

Not getting hot. vent line is free of lint. Maytag Atlantis/gas

Chances are the hot surface glow igniter is not working. Most likely it is burned out. Set the controls to dry in high heat and note if the glowing coil does in fact glow. If not, it needs to be replaced. Open the burner access door and then turn the dryer on. Watch inside the burner compartment for the glow coil to light up and glow. If all the controls are set correctly on the front control panel and the dryer is running, but the glow coil fails to glow, you've located the defective part. The glow coil will need to be replaced.
To remove the coil, turn off the gas first. Unplug the dryer from the electrical wall plug. Then remove the entire gas valve as an assembly. The nut on the gas valve to remove it from the gas supply pipe turns counter clockwise. There will be small sheet metal screws used to secure the plate to which the burner assembly parts are attached. The plate holds the entire assembly and is attached to the bottom of the dryer's cabinet.
Next, remove the glow coil from the burner assembly. Take the entire assembled part to the local appliance retail parts store for a replacement coil. Glow igniters are fragile and they break easily. Handle and install the new igniter carefully. Glow igniters are a non-returnable and non-refundable electric component.
Be advised that some new replacement igniters do not come with quick disconnect ends. In this case, it is OK to cut off the quick, disconnect from the old igniter and attach it to the new igniter. Simply clip off the wires several inches above, disconnect the old igniter, attach to the wires of the new igniter, and wire nut the two ends together. Repeat the process to attach the other set of wires and wire nut them together. There is no positive nor negative polarity to be concerned with.
Additional Suggestions: Read the manufacturer's online Web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes and solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, instructions, pictorials and schematics, which may be available online.

After starting my GE gas dryer , the burner fires and everything seems fine . The burner stays on for a few minutes and shuts off like it's supposed to . After a few minutes , the glow element turns on to...

Watch the igniter. Does it glow bright orange, then shut off without igniting the gas? (When the gas ignites there's a large blue flame.) If so, there may be defective coils on the gas valve. Mounted on the top of modern gas valves, there are black electrical coils. The coils, when energized, open the gas valve. If one or more of the coils are defective, the valve doesn't open and the gas cannot ignite. Because it's often difficult to properly test the coils, it's usually best to replace both (all) of them at the same time.

Oven burner doesnt light

Doubt that the glow plug is bad. Gas only needs about 1100 degree F. to ignite using the glow plug method. It really seems as if there may be no gas getting to the burner. If there is no flame, you should be able to smell gas. If there is no gas smell, then I would look for the obvious such as: is the gas turned on?, Does the gas valve on the unit have a safety that is tripped? and so on. A new gas valve may be in order but make sure that it is receiving the proper voltage when the glow plug is on. Lastly, there may be a safety that is malfunctioning. If the unit does not light within a given time, the safety will "Lock Out" the unit so the place doesn't fill up with gas.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Just because the glow bar igniter comes on, does not mean it good. They typically get weak with age and fail to draw sufficient enough current to open the gas safety valves. That is why you don't smell any gas. This is a designed safety feature of the burner that prevents free flowing gas from escaping before ignition. Otherwise, gas would fill the cabinet and then "phoooooom", a huge flash or explosion when the trapped gas finally ignited. I would recommend you read the following link about glow bar igniters:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r401858-replacing_oven_igniter_gas_range

I know this link is for a gas range, but the igniter types and the principle of operation is the same. If you've had this dryer for a while, I suspect you need a new igniter. Replacements can be ordered on line at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your complete model number and look under the heading for burner assembly parts. Another cause of failed ignition would be the gas valve coils. There are generally two of them on the burner. One is the main coil, while the other is a pilot position coil. When they go bad, however, they typically make a clattering noise. Let me know if you have similar symptoms.

I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you have further questions.
