Your laptop cannot connect to your work's wireless network because the security settings (ir WAP) in the D-Link is different to the security setting in your Netgear. The wireless card in your laptop will need the settings changed to suit the D-Link's wireless settings ie the SSID and WAP. You will need to change the wireless card settings in your laptop back to the Netgear's wireless settings to connect to your wireless network at home. Some wireless cards allow you to set up different profiles for different wireless networks which allow you to switch wireless networks easily by just selecting the profile for the network you want to connect to.
Ad-hoc is a computer to computer connection. You need to change the wireless configuration to Access Point (Infrastructure) mode with encryption.
Your wireless card
in your computer or laptop needs to be configured with the router's wireless
settings eg. the SSID and encryption key The encryption key
(network key) is in your wireless router, without this key the wireless router
won't allow the computer or laptop to connect to this wireless router. The WEP, WPA, WPA2
encryption key is in your router's wireless settings. Log into your router and
got to the wireless settings, you will need to get the SSID and the encryption
key. Then go to your computer or laptop's wireless card and configure it with
the router's SSID and encryption key, so it will then connect to the wireless
router and the Internet.
The settings for these instruments are more or less same. I am using a product from netgear.
I can suggest you to check the access control list (ACL) in security settings of your wireless-G.
Initailly disable access control of wireless-G and allow all the
devices (laptops or PDAs etc) you want to connect. From the "attached
devices list" you can find out the devices of your own. Put the mac
addresses of those devices in the access cntrol list. Then enable
access control list of wireless-G and reboot it. Now all your laptops
that were added to the ACL of wireless-G should be allowed access. Hope
this solves your problem.
Make sure that you can go online when connected direclty to the router. If yes, then the problem lies with the wireless settings. if not, then you will have to configure the router itself for both wired and wireless connection.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

You probably set an access list on your router connect to Router using a LAN cable and check if you can browse. Then Check your access list on router. Disable it if you cannot add your PC wireless adapter MAC address
be sure to turn on the wireless switch on your laptop. press Fn and F8 to turn on wifi. try to reconnect to the network. if it doesn't work, uninstall/reinstall the device driver for your toshiba laptop. if you know how to reconfigure the router, you need to change the SSID and change the passphrase. (if this is a secured network) if you don't know how to reconfigure the router, please contact your router manufacturer.

Go into your network settings and disable the ethernet and enable the wireless, you can also press Function F2 to enable wireless on a laptop. You may also try setting up wireless connection from the network settings if it still will not connect. Also you should be sure the network is not secured, and that your browser is told to never dial a connection.
