Question about Coleman Roadtrip Grill LXE 9949-750

2 Answers

We have a Coleman Roadtrip and the regulator is leaking. As soon as you plug in a gas canister, pressurized gas shoots out the tiny little hole in the round metal part of the regulator. The grill was purchased several years ago but is only now being used for the first time so the warranty is long up and the part seems to be out of stock. Our model # is 9941-455. Any idea how to fix or replace this piece?

Grr, I have the exact same model, first ordered the clip-on listed for all 9941 models on Coleman's site, then tried the threaded one. Neither one fits. I give up. Coleman did try to work with me, but this is very frustrating and doesn't make any sense... I think I saw the regulator that may be the right one on (Roadtrip) grills at a couple of stores. It had finer threads, and there was less threading overall (since I can't even see or feel for sure in that tiny dark hole if my grill is threaded or not). I give up.

My Coleman 9941-455 looks beautiful ,but was never used. I inadvertently threw out the "regulator assembly, and have not been able to secure a replacement part. I was told to wait for part 9942-5251 and hopefully this "clip on part" puts us on a ROADTRIP. Saddened by the lack of parts availability.

Make sure the igniter is not being covered in grease and not sparking. Also, if you had it stored, make sure a tiny critter has not taken up residence in one of the Gas tubes feeding the burner

I have a Coleman Roadtrip XLE. The on/off knobs do not control the gas. The gas comes on FULL bore and give a LARGE flame.

The problem you're having could be the result of a faulty regulator. Replacing the Hose/Regulator Assembly should solve the problem. You can pick one up at any home center or hardware store that sell grills and accessories for about $30.00.

Hope this helped you and happy grilling. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

We've had our roadtrip lxe for 3 yrs. We live in Tucson Az. and it works fine here. When we go to the mts. in northern Az. it has failed us every time (9 times). It will light and run for about 15...

Gary & Millie, the mountains you're visiting, must be over 2000 feet above sea level and that's what's affecting your gas grill. The lower oxygen level and lower air pressure affects propane fueled grills. On larger gas appliances, the gas pressure can be adjusted to overcome this problem. But, I don't believe you can do that on a portable gas grill. My best suggestion is to contact Coleman Customer Support at 800-835-3278, to find out if they have another regulator that can be used in high altitude applications.

Good luck and Happy Grilling!!

Is the regulatior suppose to thread into the line to the burners

The regulator is supposed to reduce the gas pressure from the supply can. So it is the first thing after the gas enters into the grill. without it you would have a flame thrower or worse.

I can't hear the gas when I turn the knob and the tank(s) are brand new. Does the regulator need to be cleaned or do I need to buy a new one?

Hi,
Never try to mess with a pressure regulator. if they fail very bad things can happen.
replace the regulator and be safe!

No propane flow to grill using bulk bottle system.

the office that is open on the bottom of the burner sound like a spider has taken home to.. the hole.... This happened to mine. a small pipe cleaner or wire will break it up...try that. also did you feel the top of the tank regulator and see if it has froze. try turning the tank upside down and turn the unit on.... this may also help by forcing the spider debris out.
