My camera's lens doesn't come out any more. It is fully charged and when i switch it on it makes a weird buzzing sound and the lens stays firmly in place. Is it worth getting it repaired or what is wrong...

You should first try to clean out the lens and the area around it. There possibly could be some trapped dirt in one of the nooks and is preventing the camera lens from sliding out properly. Try tugging a bit on the camera lens to see if it gives, that may knock whatever is holding the lens back. If all else fails, you should take your camera to be repaired, Olympus has great customer support so you'll be in good hands.
Good luck!

Hello.. My the autofocus on my xsi is not working.. it sounds like the lens is not catching in a way.. like, the camera is asking it to focus but the lens isn't moving at all... it makes the sound it...

Yes sort of, we have several possibilities first is that if the lens is equipped with an auto and manual switch the switch may have been set to manual or it's positioned between manual and auto focus. Failing that I'd suggest you turn off the camera release the lens from the body and reinstall it making sure the lens has fully locked and you hear it click into place. Remove the battery from the camera for a few seconds and re-install the battery and turn the camera back on. hopefully all will work for you again. Failing this I'd say you have foreign material caught up in the lens barrel like sand dry dust, lint from a fuzzy glove. If that is the case then the lens would need service and cleaned.

How new is the lens? In or out of warranty? If out or warranty most likely solution is to find a Sigma authorized repair shop because your description sounds like the auto-focus motor gear has failed. If in warranty, check out for repair sites and also download the SIGMA_SERVICE_REQUEST.PDF. I've only had to deal with Sigma once on warranty matter and they were very helpful, provided UPS authorization for shipping on their nickel.

My Sony DSC-W230 turns on and lens keep opening and closing, and then it shows "turn power off and on again". how do i fix this ?

This sounds like a stuck lens. Here is a good blog about things to try to fix it:
The blog is about a lens error, but when the camera lens opens and closes, there is often a problem with the lens.
Also make sure the battery is fully charged, and good. Also make sure the contacts are clean on the battery, and also inside the camera.
If all fails to get it working again, get an estimate on repair first, since the cost can justify just going ahead and buying a new camera.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

The CD player does spin but makes a clicking sound. There is no other sound

THe clicking you are hearing is not the motor. It is the optics attempting to focus on the disc. In this case it is likely that either the lens itself is clouded/dirty or the optics have failed. If you can gain access to the assembly, try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that fails to resolve the problem, the optics will need to be replaced.

Lens error

Does the motor make a sound as if the lens was stuck? Try to unstick the lens by gently pushing it in or pulling it out a little bit. IF that fails, the gears are too misaligned to repair it without opening it.

If you're out of warranty, there are third party place that replace them such as camera lens repairs.

If you want to do it yourself, there are also free camera repair guide websites that show you how to replace the lens, the replacement part is usually available on ebay.

When disc is loaded, it stays on loading and doesn't play the disc

Sounds like the laser has developed a fault, first i would try cleaning the laser lens with a CD / DVD Cleaning disk and if that fails , open it up and using a Q-tip and methylated spirits , dab a small bit of Meths on the cotton tip and in a circular motion clean the laser eye gently But Make sure it is unplugged, if that fails you will need a new laser lens.

hope this at least helps.

My olympus camera wont take pictures

It sounds as if the lens mechanism is damaged, and when it tries to protract it fails and shuts down.

When you just switch to camera mode, I would try helping the lens come out to get it loose.

If all fails, send in it to be serviced, but expect to pay no less than $80 to get this problem fixed.

Hope I helped,

Lens cover does not operate correctly My lens cover is stuck and will not open. The camera makes a dinging sound and then shuts off.

This is a common fault with this Olympus camera.
Your lens has failed. Take it to a service centre and they will quote you around $US80 to replace it.
That represents around 50% of the initial cost of the camera, making it a poor investment IMO.

Jammed digital zoom lens

For whatever reason, the lens has failed. This can be caused by many things: the lens motor has failed or is stuck, the gears involved in driving the lens have jammed, or, as pointed out previously, the lens itself, a series of tubes which fit into one another has become stuck. You can try GENTLY pressing down on the lens when you first power the camera to see if you can free up the stuck lens. If that doesn't work, I'm afraid you are going to have to get the camera serviced.
The clicking sound you're hearing is the lens trying to move itself. Unfortunately, it's probably not going to be fixed by pushing on the lens. You are going to have to get the camera serviced. Sorry!
