1. Check that the speakers are plugged into the correct port. Usually the green plug.

2. Install either Realtek AC'97 Driver
or Realtek High Definition Audio software.

Hello dj_itachi7
Go first to microsoft's to download SP3 for Win XP .
After installation is completed , go to the device manager and identify the sound controller . Try a driver update from there or go to the manufacturer's site to download the driver .
Best regards ,

Audio device erased

You have to reinstall your audio driver. Answers to your questions: 1. You can locate it in your Device Manager. Locate and expand Sound, video and game controllers. 2. You don't have to delete legacy drivers because reinstalling your audio driver will update it. Right click your audio software the one you found in the Device Manager and update it. It will find your installation cd of your system drivers. Else, manually install the audio driver.

My Built-in sound card was lost!

Go to START / ALL PROGRAMS / ACCESSORIES / RUN.

In the command window type compmgnt.msc Under

System Tools click DEVICE MANAGER.

In the Device Manager click Sound, video, and game controllers.

Expand the tree by clicking on the (+) plus sign then select the

name of your sound device. Click Driver, then click Update Driver.

If it fails to update go to Windows Update by clicking

START / ALL PROGRAMS / WINDOWS UPDATE

Let it scan your computer and you'll want hardware under

Optional Updates. Your last choice is to go to the homepage

of your sound device's manufacturer.

Go back into your device manager. Rught click on your sound card or sound device and say uninstall. After it is uninstalled, don't close device manager. Go to very top to your your computer's name or my computer if you didn't name it. Right click and click on scan for hardware changes. Windows will find your device and reinstall in a second.
