Answering machine operations begin on page 29 of the manual. If you're asking how to pick up messages from any other phone, look at the remote operation access instructions on page 34.

It looks like you have more "open" parentheses than you have "close" parenthesis. You should make sure to put the last parenthesis in so that the whole equation is something like 24-((24-(3/8*24))*2/3+((3/8*24))) -- notice there are 3 parentheses at the end here.
