Make sure that gas control knob is set to ON (counterclockwise). Make sure that ON/OFF switch is ON. Check that temperature setting is high enough to call for heat. Make sure pool pump is running and water is flowing to unit.
If not above there is a diagnostic procedure on page 33 of manual at:

SOURCE: When Heater is turned on display shows 125, doesn't ignite/fire.

I am not sure if you have solved this issue, or not, but here is one idea. When you turn on the heater, it is reading the temp at 125/126 correct? IF this is what the heater is reading, then the problem is the Thermistor,or temp sensor, and is very easy to replace.

If you have an Owner's Manual, there are part numbers and instructions on how to replace the Thermistor. If you do not have one, follow the link below and it will take you to one online:

SOURCE: Rheem water heater turns off by its self

Flashing code 76 is lost communication between the remote and the burner control assembly CCA (circuit card assembly). The CCA is still under warranty if purchased within the last 3 yrs. Contact Rheem customer service and have your Mod. and S/N available....explain to the agent you are recieving - flashing code 76...they'll walk you through the process.

Rheem pool heater

The display can be decieving when the remote function is turned off it will be in all caps like REM OFF but when it is on it will look like REM oFF. In the on mode the "off" is actually reading the heater mode is off (not pool or spa).

My Rheem model P-M266A-EN-C is displaying this: GVC. The heater isn't working. What does this mean?

GVC means Gas Valve Closed. This fault can be caused by many different problems, or even a faulty gas valve. Here is a link to a PDF file that give a step by step troubleshooting chart. This may help put you on top of the actual problem. http://shop.solardirect.com/pdf/pool-heaters/gas-pool-heaters/raypak-r-series-oim.pdf

Rheem is showingcode "REM" and

should ask, Do you have automation or external remote?
if no..take off remote setting by holding the three buttons down until display changes.
If yes.. this is an auxiliary remote so heater control is deactivated, look to the aux. However, This will control heater on/off and temp control but only heat as high as heater set point allows. i.e. Heater set to 82 degrees will only allow remote up to 82 degrees no matter what you set so take off REM by holding three buttons on heater, turn all the way up to 104 then put back on REM

Rheem digital gas pool heater fan code

The Fan code would indicate a problem with the combustion air blower. The is a pressure switch to indicate there is sufficent combustion air, and if not then unit shuts down. Either the fan isn't running, or there is an obsturction in the fan or exhaust piping, preventing enough air flow.
cfh would be call for heat, which would be a normal display when water temp is below setpoint
See the link below for a manual. Once you open the page look on lower right side for documents, then install manual
