SOURCE: i need a driver

Sony's website says: "Some digital camcorders must be setup to output a signal through the i.LINK® port prior to being connected to a computer. Consult the instruction manual of your camcorder for specific information before continuing with the steps in this solution. Instruction manuals are available in the Manuals/Specs/Warranty section of the Sony® eSupport Web site.

  1. Ensure the i.LINK cable is connected securely to the camcorder and computer.
  2. Ensure the camcorder is turned on and being powered by the supplied AC power adapter.
  3. Ensure the video capture card and software are configured properly to receive the i.LINK signal from the camcorder.
  4. NOTES:
    • Depending on the video capture card and software you are using, you may need to manually configure the capture card and software to receive a signal from the i.LINK port. If applicable, check the Help files of the software or contact the video capture card or software manufacturer for further information.
    • Sony® digital camcorders are not provided with and do not require special device drivers for i.LINK connectivity. The device drivers that allow i.LINK connectivity should be provided with the video capture software. If the software you are using does not appear to have the required drivers, you will need to contact the software manufacturer.
Likely this is the case where the camcorder needs to be setup in order to connect to the Firewire port. This is done inside the menus. Windows XP and Windows Vista will detect a camcorder connected to a Firewire port automatically. Make sure your camcorder is powered up and configured before connecting it. Does your PC have a Firewire port? Many do not, PCI cards with firewire ports can be bought online or from local retailers. Some sound cards come equipped with one.

I want to transfer video from sony Digital Video Camera Recorder DCR/TRV25E to my Macbook Pro. The camcorder uses Mini DV and I have a USB connection between the camcorder & Mac. Please let me know...

Hi - It's pretty easy. You would use the I.Link (Sony calls it) connector which is actually fire wire. So you would need a fire wire cable (about five dollars or so) between the camera and Mac, load up the built in Imovie software and you'll be ready to go.
Here's a link to a good video tutorial demonstrating the process.

I cannot download from camcorder dcr-trv330 to pc.. help It is a Sony Digital 8. I downloaded the USb driver but pc does not recognize it. Is ther any other way to download tapes to PC?or make a DVD

If your PC has DV link port, connect camera via DV link and transfer movie files in computer.
Other way is to hook camera with DVD recorder and burn DVD.
Thanks.

There are 2 ways,
Connect your DCR-PC9 with computer via iLink/ DV/ IEEE1394 (all are same thing) cable and transfer digital movie data in computer. (DCR-PC9 is digital camcorder)
Or connect your camera with DVD Recorder and burn DVD.

I purchased VMC-30FC AV cable to connect to my HD TV but I get pink picture on live camera and playback. Is this because my camer is not HD?

Please recheck pins that hooked at back of TV, check each video pins is fixed in its color jack like blue to blue, green to green and red to red. There are a pair of red-white pins, these will go to audio red-white jacks.
