My printer will not power on at all. we suspect

My printer will not power on at all. we suspect it may have been hit by a storm, although it was plugged into a surge protector. it is 1.5 years old. do I just need to buy a new one or is there an option for repair?

Depending on what model of printer you may want to try a new power cord at the very least.

If you got hit with a power surge from a lightning strike, it can come into a device from the AC outlet OR the telephone line. I suspect the modem (needed for FAX) section of your machine is fried. If this is in a home office, you should really have a 'whole house' surge protector installed to avoid business interruptions.
We have the Intermatic IG-1300-2T; for 4 telephone line protection it is : IG-1300-4T
Simple to install in the main breaker box and both include 5 years of insurance for losses of $10,000.
You can see them here:
Intermatic Surge Arrestors
The 4 line model (4T) is currently on sale.

Central air conditioner unit comprssor doesn't come on i suspect a lightening storm did something while we were away

check main power breaker, and reset breaker on unit, otherwise lightning storm would have nothing to do with units problem other then power surge, which would trip a breaker. Hope this helps, Thanks Mikemc1bean.jpeg

Have had major snow storms in the past few weeks. Installed, prior to storms, new door chimes that worked. Since the storms, neither the front nor side bells function. The bell button has a light on...

Most times, doorbell problems are button, especially since indicator light shows you have power.
Take off front doorbell button and see two wires.
These wires are low voltage and safe to touch.
Use screwdriver and touch both screws together, or remove wires from button and then touch two wires together.
If doorbell rings, then replace button.

If bell still doesn't work then scratch two wires together and look for static-type spark that says wires have power.
If wires have power, and you crossed both wires and bell didn't work, then new door chime is suspect.

If wires do not have power, then transformer is suspect.
Open following link to see example transformer:
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/attic-transformer10.jpg
Transformers are located in basement or attic.
Scratch a wire across both screws on transformer and look for static-like spark.
If no power, then check circuit breaker.
Home centers sell transformers in the doorbell section. They are 12 and 24 volt. Check markings on old transformer.

If transformer has power, then new door chime is suspect.

My mr coffee Iced tea maker has been working great for a year. Tonight it tripped a ground fault breaker, and only started a tea cycle. I reset the breaker and the machine squirted once then started to...

we had one like this and we suspect a power surge damaged it. it worked fine one night, but we had a lightning storm that night and we think lightning hit out power pole and fried several of our appliances. the tea maker would come on but like you described it seems to forget what its doing. consider the possibility that a power surge got it (doesn't have to be lightning, several things can cause a surge)

My emachines EL 1200 desktop stopped working during bad storm

You can try to reset the computer by removing all power sources and letting it sit for a time. Then powering it back up and see what happens. That's called a hard reset.
I am guessing that the storm surge damaged your motherboard. The power supply is working or nothing would work. Try to hit the proper F key and get into the set up on the motherboard. A message should come up when you start up the computer. This is to see if your motherboard is working enough to open the set up. You can then tell it to reset to bois to factory settings.

If none of that will work, I suspect *********** board is bad and needs to be replaced.

I am sorry I don't have more positive information for you. But I hope that this will get you on the right track to solving your problem. Remember, this is only an educated guess. If you do find this helpful, please leave positive feedback for me.

Thank You,

Brian

Hp 2210 all-in one everything works except the fax. I have to connect the cable to the phone jack and not go through the computer. the happened after we had a electrical storm. I hope there is something I...

Assuming that your fax worked before the storm and stopped working afterwards, I don't think there's much you can do if the storm fried the circuit board. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer to see if the storm did something to the configuration settings, but I suspect a power surge damaged the fax modem in the machine.

If it's still under warranty, you could call the place where you bought the printer and see what it would take to fix it. I suspect having it repaired out of warranty would be more expensive than it's worth.

Printer will not turn on

the UPS is unplugged from the power outlet but it is still connected to the modem

it is a lightning storm - and computer equipments & peripherals can only withstand very little amount of electricity

check your warranty status (warranty starts from the date of purchase) then call the vendor

Now you know that the processor and ram are good, use these on all the boards, and check the boards that dont startup are the bad ones.

Power outage=shut down

You do not say your location- so this may not be relevant to you. If in UK - check the power cord fuse. If it is a model that relies on an external power supply- try to find anther of the same specification. Other than that presume it has died
