Sounds like a broken belt. Take it to service store or buy a belt and replace it yourself. It's actually more simple than you think. Good luck! Did you get a funny burning smell when the brushes stopped spinning?

Change brush indicator light

If the light is not glowing it means the brush roll is not spinning. The belt may be stretched and need replaced. The brush roll may be installed improperly. The magnet in the brush roll has to be aligned with the indicator light for the light to work when. The brush roll is spinning

Brush not spinning

1. Make sure the belt is in contact with the shaft. 2. Remove the roller and clean the brushes AND the area that seats into the vacuum. If there is too much hair, string, etc. the brush may not roll. chances are the belt is probably not making contact. If it was you would smell rubber burning if the brush wasn't turning.

I have the ultimate g kirby. the green the brush doesnt spin when i turn it on and the belt is on correctly. whats the problem

You will find videos at this site that might be of help to you.

If the brush does not spin you probably should remove it and clean well. Also, on each end of the brush you will find a holder that keeps the brush in the unit. These should turn freely around the brush. If they do not, clean and add a bit of WD40 then manually spin the holders around the brush and reinstall.

Are there hand tools you can use with Kirby shampooer?

I love my Kirby and shampooer, but I am wondering if there are any ways to clean stains in small/tight spaces (in corners, between furniture, etc)... my old carpet shampooer had a "hand tool" attachment with spinning brushes, but I don't see anything similar for Kirby... I imagine I could put a tiny bit of solution down and use the zip brush, but I'm wondering if anyone has a better idea...?

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
I believe that Kirby does make a spinning brush and If I remember it is a round brush that spins and probably will not get into square corners – suggest using a scrub brush with the Kirby Shampoo for corners and steps for areas that you cannot get into – use an old spray bottle to wet down the area that you are cleaning and use the scrub brush and if you do find the Kirby spinning brush that will do the large areas. Kirby Ultimate G will not suck with main brush head attachment

You may need a new belt, it may have stretched enough so it isn't turning the brush roll anymore.

Make sure that the brushes on the shampooer tray are spinning, that the belt is resting on the driveshaft. The suction alone will pull up some of the moisture but the brushes should be spinning to gently scrub the carpet and deposit any excess moisture into the tray.

first things first...take the powerhead off of the front of the kirby. If you look at where the powerhead connects to the front of the kirby and you'll see a large hook...turn the hook using the crank on the front of the powerhead so that the belt is pulled up and away from the brushes. (OFF position) The hook stretches the belt so that it can fit over the fan driveshaft (its the finger looking thing that sticks out of the front of the kirby when the powerhead is removed.)

Next, place the two "feet" of the powerhead onto the "perch" located on the front of the kirby (under the driveshaft opening)....lock it on by turning the silver lever on the top of the kirby (the one under the hood/light)

Now spin the knob on the front of the kirby from off to on. This releases the belt from that hook in the powerhead so it can rest on the driveshaft. Off means the belt is off of the drive shaft and the brushes won't spin. On means the belt is on the driveshaft and the brushes will be spinning. But remember, the belt has to be stretched open on that hook inside the power head BEFORE the powerhead is placed on the front of the kirby. Otherwise the belt won't be connected to the spinning driveshaft, and the brushes won't spin
