Kenmore 54351 Won't Run at all...

A few weeks ago, we noticed our dehumidifier would not start or run at all. Water pail not full (it's empty), won't start no matter what the humidity level, the red light does not turn on. No sound, no fan, no compressor sounds. We have switched the device from outlet to outlet (and to it's own circuit) and cannot get it to work.

It is in a finished playroom in essentially the lower level (basement?) of an embankment ranch (split level). It is cool down there but certainly not cold.

I either need to find a way to understand/resolve this or buy a new dehumidifier - this one is under 3 years old (maybe more like 2 or 2 1/2 years old). It's getting too cool and moist down there.

I'm reluctant to go and buy a similar model but am unimpressed with other options I've seen on line.
