I take it you also adjusted the air pressure. is whatever you're nailing into harder than normal?

Only shoots out one nail for every 4 or 5 trigger pulls

The gun will miss fire if the driver does not return to top position allowing nails to move into position. Could be bent driver, faulty trigger, cracked lower bumper or check valve not in place. Easy to check if trigger. Remove air supply, and remove the pin holding the trigger. Fire the nailer by depressing the firing pin with your finger. If the gun works ok, single fire trigger is faulty or safety foot is out of adjustment. If still miss fire, remove head and pull out cylinder and piston. Check for bent driver, cracked lower bumper or black band (check valve) is out of place on outer part of cylinder covering a row of holes.

I keep reading how my Porter Cable FN250B has a quick release nose to clear jammed nails, but I cannot figure out how to open it.

My fn250b has a small tab/lever just below the nail feeder (with no nails in the gun the lever will be just below the nail pusher). Push on the lever with your thumb and the nose will open. This lever is held in place with one screw. If the tab/lever breaks off at the screw or if the screw falls out the lever and its spring will fall off and the front nose will just be loose/ nails will be pushed out. If someone rigged a part to keep the nose closed, you can order the correct parts at www.toolpartsdirect.com. Not really needed however because the gun does not jam that often. Good luck

I have a Porter Cable finish nailer model FN250B. I have air escaping the exhaust deflector cap all the time and the trigger won't repond. I'm not sure if it's jammed or seals are blow. Can you...

The link below will show a parts list for your gun. Leaks from top are usually caused by debris in the gun. Remove the head and examine parts for cracks or worn orings. Replace parts as needed. If all the parts in the head look ok, clean and apply silicone paste lube to orings and other parts that make contact with orings (silicone paste is sold at Lowes in the plumbing department and at swimming pool supplies stores). Usually, cleaning and lubing with silicone will stop leak. Good luck with your repair.

Porter Cable FN250B nailer won't nail. It makes a thunk when the trigger is pulled, and air escapes around the trigger. The piston does not move.It does not seem to be related to the saftey.

it sounds like there is a jammed nail in the nose/magazine or possibly a bent or broken driver. UNPLUG the air and remove the top cap carefully and see if the piston is twisted in the cylinder. Let me know and I will try and find you a breakdown for this tool
