Question about Clairion Convection Heater - HC-1500

1 Answer

The fan and the heater do now work !

Good evening, I put my Clarion to work and it worked fine for about half and hour at 22Celcius.

Then there was a short in my main electrical panel. A fuse shorted out.

I changed the fuse from the electrical panel and when I started he Clarion, the only thing that you see are all the lights from the panel but there is nothing working. What could be the problem ?

Thank you

Check for a tripped overload. reset or replace it.

My heater starts but doesn't stay on. I think the fan blows too hard, is there an adjustment for the fan speed? I took the top half of the canopy off and the heater runs fine, when I put the canopy back on...

Replace the nozzle. Desa recommended annual replacement because as the nozzle wears the cone puts out a spray rather than a fog and combustion suffers. Also set the air pump pressure.

I've got a reddy heater 125t I bought in 2002 and used it for a few months. I was in the military and deployed overseas and had it in storage until now. I've put more fuel in it, the ignite switch lights...

Is there a reset switch? Is there an in line fuse? If no to both we have some work to do here and hopefully in an hour have you up and running. Remove the top half of the heater, this exposes the burner tray and fan motor. Try spinning the fan motor by hand, should be free not bound up, use a light oil and oil front and back of fan motor at the bearings. Work the oil in by spinning the motor by hand and spin it until you feel that it is as free as it can spin. Now lets check all the other things I do yearly on mine. With the burner tray removed locate the fuel nozzle and remove it, they say you can not clean these. I say with a q-tip tooth pick and carb cleaner you can with out any damage, so clean it, now in behind the nozzle is a screen assembly these corrode clean it as well. Now put it back together and lets clean the flame sensor, locate it and now clean it with windex and soft terry cloth rag. Put the sensor back together and now reinstall the tray, make sure the sensor has a clear unobstructed view of the flame. At the back of the heater you will see the fuel pump and it has an air filter in it, remove it clean it and dry it real good put it back in. Inspect all fuel lines for holes, cracks, or dry rot. Follow the fuel line down to where it comes thru the tube, now remove the side cover and you will find the line and fuel filter. Remove the line from the filter and using a compressor blow air backwards thru the filter, instantly clean. Put everything back together and try firing it up, it should now work.

I have a Vornado TVH600. The heating coil does not heat up; the fan is working. The heater has only been used for a couple of hours--worked fine and then one day simply stopped heating.

Sounds like you got a lemon. Contact Vornado Customer Service - the TVH600 comes with a 5 year warranty that covers all costs associated with replacing or repairing the heater. They even pay for shipping costs as long as the unit is still under warranty. Just give the rep the serial number on the bottom of your product. The number is 1-800-234-0604. When you call, you'll actually get a real person, and the support team is very pleasant and helpful. Good luck with your heater!

Fan and heater run fine but fan does not shut off for a long time

Check the diagnostic indicator.
1. If the blower runs for hours make sure the fan switch on the thermostat is set on "auto".
2. The furnace safety system must be in lockout. This is the furaces way of telling you there is a problem.
3 Most common problem is a dirty flame sensor.

I have a reddi heater Pro 150

You don't give the model of the heater, only the series. You must troubleshoot, first and see if the ignitor or spark plug (whichever your Pro 150 has) to see if there is spark or glow present to ignite the fuel.

Goodman a/c works, heater will work fine then fan will stop

you have a circuit board acting up. Try keeping the fan in the "On" position. It will keep the blower on all the time but it may work. There is a built-in delay not allowing the unit to come on after you reset it with the thermostat, wait three minutes or so to see if it comes back on. I still suspect a bad circuit board.

Hi jamaica 1

Yes it will probably still work, but with reduced output. About half to be more precise Though I would not recommend using it if it has a fan. The Fan also will run at a slower speed, and may not even start, causing the heater to overheat, or burn the element out.

If I have explained this clearly for you, a FixYa rating would be great. If you want to ask more questions, happy to help :)

Heater keeps shutting off !!

I have model 5532, but I think they all have the same problem. There seems to be a safety device in the ceramic heater that turns off if it gets too hot. It "remembers" when this happens as well and will shut off until it is unplugged for 10-15 minutes.

This happens on even lightly used heaters if used in dusty conditions. Dust builds up behind the ceramic heater and the lack of flow causes it to overheat. The unit must be dismantled and the dust brushed/vacuumed out. The good news is that not only will the heater work again, but it will have better airflow too!

To do this, tech support and other people say to "clean the rear grill", but my rear was not dirty. The front grill had some dust that I vacuumed clean, but did not help. In my unit there are no filters before the air goes through the heater element. The problem is in the center of the heater. Taking out the internal fan (four screws on the sides of the squirrel fan box), I could see that the radiator was over half covered in dust. I cleaned that dust out using a shop vac and the problem went away.

Opening the heater was a little tricky, two of the screws were triangle head screws. Once inside, however, it is a simple proceedure to remove the fan. Of course, you should unplug the heater and wait a while before opening it up to make sure there are no electrical charges stored in the unit.
