Just installed a Moen shower fixture, & the knob for the shower head doesn't send water to the shower head-- I don't get it!

Thanks for the reply SuperDave, but my problem is with the diverter to send water to the shower head.
Some genius of an engineer designed the diverter to only turn 90 degrees, so you have your choice, water out of the tub spout, or no water at all. No matter which way you turn the diverter, there's a plastic stop that only allows for 90 degrees worth of rotation. (180 degrees would be nice, I'd be done with this job, & the folks I'm doing the work for would be able to take a shower instead of baths.)
Moen has parts Fed-Exing to me for Weds-- hope they get it right this time. WHY would you even ship a shower fixture with a diverter that's engineered wrong to begin with??? Makes FedEx happy tho. Hope this new part works.

I just installed one this weekend. Make sure that the cartridge has the embossed "HC" at the top (for Hot on left, Cold on right) when you slide it back in. Also, before putting the handle on turn the cartridge shaft so that the completely flat part is toward the top and the side with the small notch at the end is toward the bottom.

You need to install a new moen cartridge its a single handle posi-temp cartridge you should be able to get 1 for free if you are the original owner by calling 1-800-buy-moen more than likely when soldering in the new valve a little bit of solder broke free into the cartridge or hard water. When the water gets turned off and then turned back on it can break free alot of particles that can get jammed up in these cartridges or any fixture for that matter you will need a cartridge puller to perform this job with ease.

HELLO- Very possible that there can be dirt or solder inside, hard to determine without looking inside at the sealing points of the vavle itself. Try to determine if it is the hot or the cold side, also look at were the valve seals off ,could be small imperfection in the seal ! Good luck

If you pull the silver knob on the tub spout up, the diverter located located inside will redirect water up to the shower head and when lowered it will return the water to the tub spout. It sounds as thought the diverter is not working properly. Hope this helps..

Shower head leaks water when water is turned on

take out the cartridge from the fixture and make sure it has all of the "O" rings and stoppers.
look at the instruction again, make sue you are installing it the right side up. if all that, the shower still leak, then you need to talk to the place you brought the fixture, it may have a defective cartridge.
