Question about SanDisk Sansa m240 MP3 Player

Sansa m240 not being recognized, even after changing to msc

I'm using Windows XP , and supposedly you don't need a driver for the m240, but I tried the advice posted above and changed my settings to msc.. instead of auto detect.. and Still NOTHING. I'm getting super frustrated. It's been three days of trying to figure this out now :(

Yeah, i've been to about all of them, and I either can't figure out what it is exactly I need from the Sansa website, and every other download hasn't helped. For the driver updater the last process never updated because the last step asks me to plug it in and when the comp recognizes it THEN press enter. But that is kinda my problem to begin with- so i'm stuck at the beginning again.

Electronic Paradox i'm sure. So frustrated.

My Sandisk m240 is not recognized by my pc, or does not appear in My Computer when connected to my pc.

How do you delete songs of the sandisk mp3 player the model is m230

Windows XP puts the Sansa drive into MTP mode by default. (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_Transfer_Protocol )

In order for the Sansa device to be seen as a drive letter, it needs to be in MSC mode.

OK, enough background! On your Sansa device, go to Menu | Settings | USB and select MSC. Once you exit the menu and connect the device to your Windows XP machine it should be recognized as a drive letter.

This method worked for my Sansa M240. Hope this helps!

ENGLISH
I had the exact same problem listed in this thread.
This is what I found on another site to fix it.
Make sure your M240 is not connected to the computer.
Then go into the "settings" menu and then go to the "usb" part.
Then Select "MSC" from the menu, instead of "Auto Select (or something like that).
Then turn off your player and connect it to the Win XP computer and it will be fully recognized
and you can then go to My Computer and see it there and use it.

Synching problems....someone please help

Hi Nikki. Seems like the Operating System (is it Windows XP?) may have encountered errors loading the native drivers for your player when in MTP mode, or the Windows Media Player version on the PC your plugging your player in is Windows 9 or below. The minimum requirements of the M240 is Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Media Player 10 or above. Falling short of this minimum requirement may cause your player not to be properly recognized. But assuming that the PC you're using the player with meets all the requirements, try to re-load the native driver by plugging your player to the PC and doing the following: Step 1: Right-click on the "My Computer" icon, then select "Manage". This will open the "Computer Management" window. Step 2: Left-click on "Device Manager" If your player is currently in MTP mode, then try this: (1) Left-click in "Windows Portable Device". You should find your M240 indicated there. Check for an error indicator on the left side of that icon. The error indicator would be yellow-colored icons displayed as "!" or "?" (2): Right-click on the M240 and select "Scan for hardware changes" or "uninstall". Both would have the same effect If your player is currently in MSC mode, then try this: (1): Left-click in "Universal Serial Bus Controller". You should find a "Mass Storage Device" there (make sure that the M240 is the only device plugged in to your PC at this time). Check for an error indicator on the left side of that icon. The error indicator would be yellow-colored icons displayed as "!" or "?" (2): Right-click on the "Mass Storage" and select "Scan for hardware changes" or "uninstall". Both would have the same effect Step 3: Unplug your M240 and plug it back in. This would force Windows to re-load the driver. 90-99% of the time, it would re-load the native drivers correctly. I hope this works.
