Many vacuums have more than one filter, check the manual to locate the other filters take them out and clean or replace them.

You could have something clogged in a hose or the path to the bag/canister. It sounds like this might be the problem if you are not getting any suction. Check all your airways the dirt travels to find the clog. If you can't get to some places, you may need to take it to a repairman.

Remove all filters and try the suction on your hand, NOT THE FLOOR!
Filters are vital to keeping the motor working.
Most vacuum sucking probs are a result of a clogged filter or filters. Sometimes, hoses also. Or a full bag.
Remove all filters, clean them thoroughly, check hose for obstruction.
Use another vacuum to remove dust/dirt (or an air compressor) from the dirty filters.
That's first step.

My Floormate isn't sucking up the water either on the cleaning or the dry cycles. New in February. Can't find my manual.

The most common reason for a lack of pick up is that the plastic filter cover on top of the dirty water recovery tank is missing. The cover is clear plastic with a large hole in it that seals against the motor inlet.

Always use the foam filter when using the Shop Vac, keep your filters clean and it will operate more smoothly. When sucking water I usually take the foam filter off as well as the cylinder filter

Shop vac sucks water for a few seconds then it spits it back out

Don't use the paper filter for sucking water. It can ruin it. It will still be usable if you just set it out to dry but there is no reason to use it for water in my experience. I have a sears shop vac and it will fill up more than half full without ejecting the water.

Motor Filter Has Been Sucked In - Eureka 4467AV Upright Vacuum

you will have to remove the cover over the motor so you can get to it and the fan. When you get the filter out, drill holes first, then drive a couple of nails down thru where the filter sits so it can't get sucked into the fan again.

Not sucking up
Posted by Smudge935 on May 02, 2008
Hi, I have a Dyson DC05 and initially it sucks up ok then stops. On investigation the dust particles are ending up in the pre-motor filter instead of the canister.
I have checked for blockages, and cleaned filters. Any ideas????

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Something is blocking the path of the dirt to the canister and it should not be going directly to the motor filter (diverter valve) that is supposed to be a backup just in case. So that the motor does not burn up, please check with you local vacuum cleaner dealer for a schematic or a product breakdown.

So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I had same exact problem. It stopped sucking, just spitting out trash back. You need to clean all pipes, all of them. Then take canister apart and clean and wash top filter. It works like new now again

Dirt devil mvp not sucking

Could be bad filters, is there suction at the end of the hose. That will tell you which direction to start looking. If no suction at hose end, then filters could be the problem. If you have suction, then the problem is down lower, dirt inlet is clogged, if belt has never been changed, then I am sure it has stretch to the point that under load it doesn't turn like it should. Could even be that although the motor is running, it may be running at a slower speed, in which case it would have to be replaced.
