Question about Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Calculator

1 Answer

Calculator won't graph

I did/changed something on my calculator and now when I try to graph it says I have invalid dimensions. I'm sure I'm messing it up trying to fix it. The window is set at -10,10,1,-10,10,1,1. So, I'm pretty sure that is right. Also, when I am trying to list things I messed that up too. How do I list ordered pairs. It only gives me the X coordinated, no Y. Thank you!!!

You have either entered data in lists where one list is longer than the other or in your y= screen, one of the plots is turned on. If a plot is turned on the letters are in white surrounded by a black box. To turn off the plots, higlight the plot that is on and press enter.

Another fast solution is to press, 2nd the the plus sign then the numbers 7 then 1 then 2. It will restore factory settings.

You must deactivate the statistical plots. If you do statistical graphs, the graphing is reconfigured in a way that happens to be incompatible with regular fuction graphs.

  1. To deactivate the statistical plots.
  2. Press [2nd][Y=] to access the (STAT PLOT) menu.
  3. Press [4:PlotsOff][ENTER].
  4. Calculator displays Done.
  5. You are ready to draw the function graphs.

You're probably trying to graph a function that does not involve stat plot features. You can correct this by turning off the stat plot features. Press "2ND" "STAT PLOT" and then select 4:PlotsOff.

I need help with graphing everytime i try to draw a graph it comes up with this ERR:INVALID DIM what does that mean

It means that your Xmin or Xmax is messed up. it often shows up when you are plotting somethings (histogram for exanple) and you don't have enough X or Y range to fit all the points in it. it also happens when you are multiplying matricies without using the right dimensions. ERR:INVALID DIM just means your dimension is invalid.

Invalid Dimensions for Graphing and Equation

Hello,
I suspect you are using the TINspire in TI84PLUS mode (with the TI84 keyboard).
If that is the case, the simplest procedure is to turn off STATPLOTS.
Press [2nd][STATPLOT] [4:PlotsOff][ENTER]. Calculator displays Done.

Hope it helps.
