Question about Computers & Internet

I have recently noticed when i open a folder on my HP laptop that if i open a subfolder, it will not open it in its own screen. it will continue to use one screen, forcing me to have to use the ''back'' button. i went to the folders options and clicked the ''open each folder in its own screen'' -clicked apply, then ok but it still will only use one screen. what do i need to do differently?

Press the [Windows] key on your keyboard together with E. Then a folder window opens. Press the [Windows]E pair 2 or 3 times to open more windows. In each window the folder list appears on the left side.

In one window, click on the the folder you wish to open. Move on to next window, open another folder and so on. The you can switch between the windows.

If you reduce the size of the windows, you can keep them side by side and see both at the same time.

Best of luck

Tip

Make your Folders Private

Hi,

  1. Open My Computer
  2. Double-click the drive where Windows is installed (usually drive (C:), unless you have more than one drive on your computer).
  3. If the contents of the drive are hidden, under System Tasks, click Show the contents of this drive.
  4. Double-click the Documents and Settings folder.
  5. Double-click your user folder.
  6. Right-click any folder in your user profile, and then click Properties.
  7. On the Sharing tab, select the Make this folder private so that only I have access to it check box.

Note
  1. To open My Computer, click Start, and then click My Computer.
  2. This option is only available for folders included in your user profile. Folders in your user profile include My Documents and its subfolders, Desktop, Start Menu, Cookies, and Favorites. If you do not make these folders private, they are available to everyone who uses your computer.
  3. When you make a folder private, all of its subfolders are private as well. For example, when you make My Documents private, you also make My Music and My Pictures private. When you share a folder, you also share all of its subfolders unless you make them private.
  4. You cannot make your folders private if your drive is not formatted as NTFS For information about converting your drive to NTFS

Good luck!

Not sure which version of windows you have. Click on the start button or the apps button on Win 10. Open files and search buy the name you saved the as. Or take another look in your downloads folder and click on the date column to sort buy download date and see what comes up for the day you saved them. Thx

Hp apps windows 8 won't open

That's weird. Did you ever get the apps to open? I notice this is a fairly old post. I haven't had any problems with opening apps. At bottomm of screen, you'lll see your download IF the app downloaded. Right click on the download and tell it to OPEN or OPEN WHEN DOWNLOADED. If you miss that, then go to your file folder at bottom of screen, left click on "downloads" and make sure the app is there. if not, then you'lll need to reload the app. Sometimes firewalls prevent apps from downloading, as well as antivirus software. If all else fails, turn off your firewall and your antivirus program, but turn them back on after downloading app! Hope this helps!

I imported mp3 music tracks from my laptop onto my Zen MX internal storage in the music folder, but I can't locate them. When I connect back onto my Laptop it shows the tracks are there.

To ensure that your player functions smoothly, it is best that you keep the folder structure simple, and minimize the subfolder levels (not more than 6 levels). Also, make sure that your media files are located in the appropriate main folders (Music, Video, and Pictures).

To update, download and install the latest firmware from http://www.creative.com/getstarted/zen-mx/welcome.asp.

the music should be in a subfolder Music > Imported Music.

Photos will not upload from camera to computer

Go to Desktop/MyComputer/Pana(or it may say USB Drive, or DCIM, and click on this external drive Icon.
You are now looking at the camera contents as if it were just another file folder on your PC, and behaves the same way.

You will find your pics in a sub-folder under a master folder, common for all camera file structures, named DCIM. You can drag and drop individual pic (jpg) files or whole pic subfolders from the camera to a place on your PC, usuallly Documents/Pictures.

You can do all other folder/file operations on this Camera Folder/Pic files you can do with those that exist on the PC like;cut, past, delete, rename, etc etc.

When you take you next first pic from your camera, after moving or deleting a pic subfoler under the Camera's DCIM master folder, the camera automatically creates another subfolder. Each subfolder holds 999 pics. The camera will atuomatically create a second, third, etc subfolder for pics 1000 to 1999, 2000 to...etc.
