You have an hydraulic problem in most likeyhood. Check the fluid level, check the lines. I don't know exactly what a Kobelco is, but anytime a contractors piece of machinery won't slew right or left it has been a hydraulic fluid problem.
Hi, you have a problem with the slew brake stuck on?, If that is the case it could well be electrical . On my 1989 814 there are 3 settings, 1 automatic on& off for craning .2 off all the time for continuous digging. 3 on and 'locked'. Calibrate motors and then TRAIN the drives-- this sets the gear backlash.
You should Calibrate motors every time you take it outside and Train drives at least once every year. The symptom you describe is called "rubberbanding".
Maybe the springs and discs in the slew brake are worn or the slew spool is not coming to neutral when you release the handle,check to see its dumping servo pressure.
Be sure that the Azimuth Axis is Lock, you migth want to try and move the telescope in the Azimuth to make sure it is it is locked. Be carful not to force it. I have seen on some post where the locking part of the Azimuth somtimes breaks. and the Azimuth Axis will just spin freely Locked down or not.
You did tighten the DEC knob? If you did the altitude gears (a worm gear) is not engaing properly. You can either return it to Meade for repairs or attempt them yourself.
I would also check that you have fresh batteries and that the UP button on the hand controller is not broken.
