Hunter ceiling fan. Lights and fans turn on and off by themselves. Both fans are on the same wall switch and are operated by separate remotes.

jmaesoliver, Thanks for your response, but they are already on different frequencies. With wall switch on, one light only on, either fan may come on at any speed, or the other light may come on. If left alone the fan may change speed, or go off, also the light may come on and off. No pattern, or false signal from TV Remote or other interference.

I just installed a 2nd hunter fan model 23811 that also seems to be controlled by grimlins. If the power is left on, the light and fan randomly turn on and off. And no, it is not due to fans being on the same frequency. It appears to be an issue with the control module. I'm contacting Hunter.

The problem you describe could be a "frequency" issue since all electronic parts have a "tolerance" that aging and temperature can cause to vary. And, it is possible an incorrect part that was "close to value"

CONTINUED . . . installed making the tuned frequencies interfere with one another much like "AM radios" tend to often do. Incorrect tuning values will cause insufficient frequency band separation and cause interference. Hey, a faulty component such as a "capacitive" component could dynamic vary the frequency separation???

I know this is an old thread, but I just fixed this problem on my Hinter ceiling fan. If the lights are flickering on and off, it sounds like the wattage controller (inside the ceiling hub) is the problem. I've heard Hunter sells them for $35, and I've seen YouTube videos showing the easy procedure of cutting these out. I cut mine out, and the lights work properly again.

Obviously you have 2 (two) hunter fans with remote, so one of the fan needs to have frequency changed : on the base fan you will find (white rectangular )receiver that has 8 (eight small) switches, the same switches you would find in the remote control, slide 1 switch up ( on the remote and the receiver). Make sure same number ok (these 8 switches has #'s 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) then reinstal your fan back the way it was. you'll be fine. good luck

My receiver don't have dip switches, Im pulling my hair out! Brought 2 hunter fans and my fan remote operates my kids fan. Some times my light turns off! I performed the steps of resetting remote and it still doesn't work. And yes it's brand new stuff and yes I'm mechanically inclined. Not to impressed with Hunter remote devices!! Help:(

The remote controls the fan speed but wont dim or control the light. the unit wont work if the light switch is off so I cant use the fan at all unless the light is turned on

mcdevito75 here, Generally the Ceiling fan motor is hooked up by-passing the wall switch but still to the hot laed going to the wall switch whlie the lights are hooked up to the hot lead after the wall switch, So without the remote, Manually operate your fan and lights. First with the wall switch off the fan should work and the lights no work. Now turn the fan off with the pull chain on the fan shroud close to the ceiling. Now turn wall switch on and lights should work with wall switch and the fan should also work. if so, re-program the remote or change the batteries or even re--place the remote.

Have a hunter ceiling fan with light kit and remote. Lights have started turning on and off by themselves ?

This is likely caused by stray frequencies in the neighborhood. Change the frequency on your system and see if the lights go off less frequently.

See the manual for the remote system. You'll need to go into the top of the fan and change some little switches (dip switches) and set the same frequency on the transmitter (what most call "the remote").

Fan with remote won't work with wall switch. I

I just recently purchased a hunter ceiling fan w/light and remote. Had it installed and wall switch would not work, only remote. I contacted Hunter company directly about this problem and I was told that they redesigned their fans with remotes so that only the remote works for turning off power to fan. The person who made that made that BRILLIANT change should be fired. So to those of you who own a newer hunter an product with a remote ne your wall switch will not work tat s te reason why.

Sounds like the remote receiver units (located where the mains connect to the fans) took a surge and have failed.
