SOURCE: changing spark plugs 2003 Impala 3.4 eng. i.e. removing and reinstalling upper intake manifold

I have a 2003 chevy Impala and it's not so difficult. Try using a small ratchet that fits in the palm of your hand, I can't remember what it is called. To install the plugs use an extension and put a couple of the card board pieces from one of the spark plug boxes in between the new spark plug and the spark plug puller socket, this will hold the new plug in place while you work with the extension. When screwing in the plug you will have to go by feel so move the extension back and forth like a light jiggle while turning to avoid cross threading the plug. After the plug is tightened attach the ratchet and slightly torque into place.

SOURCE: p0102 Grand Prix

P0102 is ---- mass or volume air flow circuit, low input.
Check the wires going to the maf sensor and at the connection. If all seems ok, you might need a new sensor, seeing how it ran a little better when disconnected.

96 suburban 5.7 liter P0300

code p 0300 is random misfires ===causes ---plug/s--HT lead/s---injector/s---ignition coil/s---low compression ---wiring
replace the cat converters as they are important for proper engine tuning
the problem most likely is faulty injectors that over fuel , leak and need attention
you can fit a vacuum gauge into any vacuum hose to read the vacuum at idle ( 15 or deceleration from high rpms 25)
fluctuation reading at idle indicates problem valves

Code p1537 comes up and misfire cyl.3 what can i do to repair the problem

DTC P1537 - Intake Manifold Runner Control IMRC maltfunction (Bank #1 stuck open)
Look down in the very back of the engine behind the intake manifold. You will see 2 linkages coming out of a box looking piece that has an electrical connection. Look at where the linkages hook up and see if the little white clips are broken or missing. This is typical. If all that looks ok, you may need the actual IMRC control--(Intake Manifold Runner Control); $150-200 range.

This it's located behind the upper intake manifold; actually bolted to the lower intake back by the firewall, it's not real easy to see. I would look at your vacuum lines on the intake manifold. I think it would be vacuum operated but I may be wrong. Anything on the manifold would be easy to fix and worth your time

DTC P0303 - Cylinder #3 Misfire
A code P0303 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Faulty spark plug or wire
Faulty coil (pack)
Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
Faulty fuel injector
Burned exhaust valve
Faulty catalytic converter(s)
Running out of fuel
Poor compression
Defective computer

Possible Solutions:
* If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.
* If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Hope this helps.

How many o2 sensers are there on a 2003 ford taurus with the 3 liter dohc v-6

2 O2 sensors and 2 catalytic converter efficiency monitors, they look like O2 sensors but are not, they are after the cat converters, the O2's are before the cat converters in the exhaust pipe of the engine exhaust manifolds
