Toshiba satellite is stuck safe mode it's running Windows XP.I tried restart f8 start normal a black screen with bunch stuf& starts in safe mode. What's wrong how can I get it out of safe mode?

First you should really consider upgrading from Windows XP because it is no longer supported and the chances of your computer becoming infected are extremely high.

Pressing the F8 command will only access Windows RE where you can access startup repair safe mode etc.

If the computer is only allowing you to go into safe mode that is a good sign that something is severely wrong with your OS.

While in safe mode you should try and access system restore, but this will only work if 1) you have turned on system restore and 2) your system has a restore point to access.

Have you added any new hardware or programs to the computer? If yes, then the new addition may be the cause of this issue. You can use device manager to rollback any changes or access programs and features to delete any program changes.

Other then that, if none of the above suggestions work I would strongly suggest booting from the disk media to access Windows RE too recovery the computer or just to re-image the computer.

Hope that helps.

When I try to update Bios on Toshiba Satellite A215-S7462 The computer 'locks up' (becomes completely unresponsive), and the computer's display goes blank (turns off).

Upgrading BIOS! If it isn't broken don't fix it. Upgrading is a scapegoat fix, and many manufactures have a disclaimer. "You are on you own", and the likes for a reason. Most solutions are found elsewhere. However, if you truly need to update read this to help you with the upgrade. You don't want to end up with a brick.

Is this laptop worth upgrading or just buying a new one

Ask the dealer or any computer tech for the amount your going to pay for the upgrade.
Upgrading hardware for that is the memory and processor.

Thanks for asking FixYa!

I would like to scratch-install the new WINDOWS 7 on the TOSHIBA P105-S6114. Is this okay? Are there any problems I may encounter?

ecommended Windows 7 Installation Method SelectionToshiba provides support for installing Windows 7 on laptops built since 2007. Depending on your model, Toshiba recommends using one of the following software tools as part of the Windows 7 installation process, to support ongoing use of Toshiba provided features and functionality:
  • Toshiba Upgrade Assistant for Windows 7, for upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7 on laptops made in 2009
  • Toshiba Software Installer for Windows 7, for performing a Custom Installation of Windows 7 ("clean install") on laptops made 2007-2009
Find your laptop's serial number on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop, note the second character in that serial number, then click on the matching link in the list below for instructions on Toshiba's recommended Windows 7 installation method for your model.
For all laptops made since January 1, 2007*
When upgrading from Windows Vista (not a Custom or "clean" Install)
  • if the second character of your laptop's serial number is 7 or 8, click here.
  • if the second character of your laptop's serial number is 9, click here.
When upgrading from Windows XP, or doing a Custom Install ("clean install") from any operating system
  • if the second character of your laptop's serial number is 7, 8, or 9, click here.
  • if the second character of your laptop's serial number is not 7, 8, or 9 then it was manufactured prior to 2007.*
* Installation of Windows 7 is not supported by Toshiba for laptops made prior to 2007.

Hope it helped.

How to upgrade the sound of my computer

If I got your questions clear it might be somethin like upgrading the sound driver of your sound card.
Changes to your operating system or new software may cause conflicts with your sound card or sound card driver. If the manufacturer of your sound card has created a new driver for it, you might solve the problem by installing it. You also might need to upgrade drivers to play sounds in new formats, such as RealAudio. This can only work for latter version of windows from 95 until present.

I need to replace the CD Rom drive.

If you have to ask "how", then you should not attempt to do so,
unless you can afford to buy a new computer, should your attempt go badly.

Instead, take the computer to a qualified technician.
Consider upgrading to a CD/DVD reader/writer.

Lop top dosent boot to bios, after i attempt to up grade them

This normally happens when upgrading your operating system i.e. from windows xp upgrading to windows vista. But the problems is sometimes it can skip important things or maybe you skipped on something. A likely problem is it doesnt boot after bios because the booting order is incorrect. When you boot go to your bios. im not sure what computer you have so follow the guide on this site and the reply to this with your booting order! ONLY DO UP TO STEP 3! then if not already selected change it to harddrive but remember what it was peviously just incase this wasnt the problem. When set to harddrive try and boot again and hopefully it will work. If not then i suggest phoning up the company and asking instead of sending it to the shop as it will cost alot and they will take your computer from you!

Toshiba Laptop A55-S306 shuts down with error messages

It sounds to me like a virus. Boot up from a recover cd or windows cd and reinstall freashly.

If you don't have a recovery cd, contact Toshiba for one. They go around for $40 to $50. If you can't get one, buy Windows Vista and boot up from that and reinstall.
