Question about Olympus DS-40 Digital Voice Recorder

1 Answer

A doc I transcribe for has just started using the DS-40. The first few files came to me fine and the quality was amazing. I had no trouble on my end with transcribing the files which were in WMA format. The last few he has sent, I have not been able to get them to play in anything except the Windows Media Play and so there is not foot pedal to control the playback. The only difference I seen between the files is that the good ones he first sent are labeled in my file folder as Windows Media Audio file and the ones that he is now sending are listed in the same file folder as Windows Media/Audio playlist. Is there something he can do to reset his recorder so that the files will be in the correct format for me again. Help Please!

The latter files have been mistakenly formatted as playlists rather than audio files. Playlists are created to keep track of groups of audio files. When you want to listen to the audio files, rather than having to load all the files seperately, you merely load the playlist which then automatically loads the separate files. Depending on the way that the files are being transferred from the unit to the PC, the software is creating these playlists. You should still be able to see the individual files even if the play lists are being used to transfer the files. Have whoever is doing the transfers review the section of the manual that shows the different ways that files can be transferred. Make sure that when the files are being copied that the individual files are being moved. That should then allow you to listen to the audio and be ale to use the foot switch.

Olympus DSS Player Pro Woes!

Could it be that the files are just being regularly accessed by one of the server admin tools and the DSS Player application interprets an open file as 'being transcribed'

What happens when a copy of a .DSS file is made to an operators machine and then loaded locally for transcription?

User prints a Powerpoint 2007 doc and several of the slides have missing info. One has the upper left quadrant partially printing and two others have 3/4 of the slide partially printing. Fresh install of...

I would recommend you download the latest drivers for your printer, and also check to see if your powerpoint has updates as well.

also, its possible your printer does not have enough memory to print complex graphics, try reducing the quality or resolution of your file.

thanks adi

Your DS-40 DVR has lock function to avoid important files from being accidentally erased.Locking and unlocking a file folder can be found on page 68 of your user manual.

Nintendo DS Top Screen color is faint.

It's very possible that you didn't remove the protective film that the top screens almost always come packaged with. If that's not the case it might just be a loose connection, but that's doubtful, or a lesser quality screen.
