Actually there is no way to do what you want because the unit is designed to operate when the inside temperature allows the heat exchanger to function so that it will condense the liquid refrigerant into a gas.
As far as using it in the winter to dehumidify this same applies. If it is to cold then the gas won't be able to condense back into a liquid. If I were you I would buy a portable dehumidifier but remember that if the temperature is to low it won't work.
Sounds like the unit is cycling off on a high head pressure (condenser coil too hot). When the condenser cools, the automatic switch resets. The unit cuts off again when the condenser heats up again. Clean the condenser coil, and clear out any debris (bird's nest, lint etc.)
Hi, I'm new here but have the same model. Is your A/C new? Is your "Mode" set to "Cool" rather than "Fan"? Is the temperature set below room temperature? If not it will just run as fan. Lastly is your water reservoir full? Probably not the problem as the unit will shut off. Looks like you posted this a couple weeks ago, hope you figured it out.
