SOURCE: Is HP Pavilion dv5120us cpu upgradeable?

In almost all now laptops, the processor is upgradeable - within the same socket, and if the motherboard supports it.

With laptops, you need to know what you are doing, as you basically have to completely disassemble the system. If it is under warranty, take it to an HP certified technician in a HP approved shop, to maintain your warranty, as this would void your entire warranty otherwise. You could contact HP for which processors will work with it. Make sure to get paperwork and the old part, in the packaging from your new one from whoever installs it, to prove that a professional teck that they approve installed it, if you ever need service.

Any Pentium 4 northwood or willamette CPU should work, when ordering your CPU make sure is for socket 478, you can use up to 2.80 Mhz speeds on that motherboard. you can get those on ebay for a good price.

Hp pavilion dv2840se. Is the largest cpu I can upgrade to a T68? amd

you mean fastest right not LARGEST? or most cores?
or both, my guess both , as all want.... sure...
DV2-840se
why spend money on such and old dog.
it wont go faster,
try a SSD first. see real speed, first

the limit is
what HP limits you to
what clock rates run or used, or supported
what The BIOS supports
The glue logic, ,must support any processor you choose
why not ask HP this very hard question, for sure tops the list of HARD. I you read on the Intel site what it takes to support any processor you learn fast its not TRIVIAL,.
not like changing a light bulb.

Im at HP.com now reading your service book for you.
it shows over 25 processors supported.
why not pray tell ask HP this.?

Upgrade for processor

Dear lil logan,

The most advanced cpu regarding this laptop would be the

Intel Pentium M 745 (1.8-GHz) with 400-MHz front
side bus (FSB).

This info is official and can be found at the following HP Service manual shown below. (Section 1-2)
