Question about MSI MegaBook S250 Notebook

1 Answer

I activated WinowsXP Pro and restarted. I no longer have WLAN

Since I activated the WinowsXP Pro and restarted my MSI S250 laptop I longer appear to have the wireless network adaptor. It doesn't appear in the system tray and 'Adding new hardware' doesn't find it. I don't have the utility disc that came with, so wonder if someone can please help? Thanks, Jim

Thanks, I've tried that but with no luck (certainly not on the MSI website so far) and I'm up to date with the XP service packs. It's almost like the WLAN adapter no longer exists.....very peculiar!

If someone's got a copy of the original utility disk that'd probably do the job.

You could try and download the drivers online if you know the make and type of wireless adaptor. That usually works, also have you downloaded the service packs for xp?

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

Not sure if this will work for your model but its worth a try. Copied from MSI support faq website
You have to press the WLAN button located right next to the power button in order to enable/disable the Bluetooth function. Press WLAN button once, Enable WLAN. Press WLAN button twice, Enable Bluetooth. Press WLAN button thrice, Enable both WLAN and Bluetooth. Press WLAN button four times, Disable both WLAN and Bluetooth.

If this does not work, check if the driver is installed in your computer by going to the device manager. check under network adapters. If the driver is installed, uninstall the current driver and restart the computer.

If the issue still persists, you may download the driver update at the msi website: http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=nbdriver&maincat_no=135&prod_no=1474. Just make sure the driver you're downloading is compatible with yoru operating system
