Also if this is a desktop, you can always purchase a pci sound card that goes into one of the available pci slots for less than $15.

Are the speakers plugged into the light green port on the back of the desktop? Are the speakers turned on?

did u intalled KLC codec pack or any other codec pack, if it is try to reinstall the codec pack and restart the pc and try.
