Question about Computers & Internet

The screen display reset to 640x480 on startup.

I'm using window 7 build 7229. Recently automatic update installed a new update for the chipset. The update is "Intel Corporation - Display - Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Chipset Family". After the installation each time I start the computer after shutting down, the display reset to 640x480. Is there any way to set the monitor resolution(1280x800) as default resolution?

Anyways, yes, the native resolution is 1280x800 at 60 Hz. Its a PnP device part of the Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset family. Find a ATI Mobility Radeon plugin or create one. Be careful, ATI desktop drivers dosn't support offficial mobility chip (some inf entries are missing).
Start with drivers from your manufacturer. You can use ATI desktop driver files, but you have to add your hardware device number. Be aware, that's not a official solution, but this works in most cases.
Thank You

Upgraded to windows 7 but cant change the screen resolution from 640x480 using a samsung syncmaster732n

Try downloading or installing new drivers for your video card, and the monitor. If you already have the latest monitor drivers for Windows 7, I would recommend updating the video as it's the other reason you might not be able to increase the resolution.

I recently downloaded two optional updates for Startup Windows 7 onto my ASUS EeePC 1005. Following download I was requested to restart my PC to complete the installation. Upon restart, I had no display...

Try starting the PC in safe mode (press F8 as it starts) and then restore your PC to a date before you installed the updates. If that fails you must use your windows 7 disk to repair the system or just install it again.....

I recently updated my computer to windows 7 ultimate but the screen resolution won't change from 640x480 and i have a FPD 1930 monitor but it says i'm using Gneric PnP monitor on VGA adapter

well the problem is not with the monitor.....its just that you got to update the Graphic or display drivers

As you updated the system OS so now you got to install the Graphic drivers and in order to do so..use the the addition disc that you might have got the manufacturer (i.e. Driver & Application CD) or if its a self assembled computer computer then use the Motherboard CD

Else you can go to manufacturer website and download the graphic/display adapter drivers

If you would have mentioned the Model & make of your system, I could have helped with the direct download link

Thanks
