Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

My Dyson DC27 Animal is stuck (Locked) in the upright position. Everything seems to be ok with no apparent cracks or breakages. I don't want to force it in case something snaps.

Dysons are notorious for this problem. You will have to just force it and clean any obstructions.

How do I adjust the power cam locationpower cam on a dc27

Hi Charles, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC27 is engineered to adjust automatically for different floor types - there is no way of manually adjusting the height of the wheels or brush bar. The vacuum may need higher push force on certain types of deep pile carpeting. We would recommend checking directly with the carpet manufacturer for their advice on caring for this particular carpeting - manfacturers may recommend vacuuming some carpets with the brush bar turned off, and it may be worth giving this a try.

To turn off the brush bar, just use the brush control switch next to the red on/off switch:

I got my mother a Dyson vacuum to replace her old hoover...she's used a few (3) times. I was at her house yesterday and attempted to use it to clean up some crumbs. She told me the last time she tried...

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear *********** is having difficulties with her DC28. The cleaner should recline easily into the vacuuming position when one foot is placed on the cleaner head, and the handle is lowered. If it's not doing this, check the clear U-bend at the rear of the machine for obstructions. For guidance on doing this, please see the link to our Support page below:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1236&product=DC28-ANIMAL

After removing any blockages from the U-bend, stand the cleaner upright, and try reclining it again. It might be worth using a little more force than usual, in case the upright lock mechanism has jammed. If this doesn't help, or if you're reluctant to try this, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and provide further assistance. You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON - or if you email your details to askdysonUS@dyson.com, someone will be in contact as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Morning. We have a DC27 and we can't move it from the upright position. Please help.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing a problem with your DC27. Ordinarily you should be able to put your vacuum cleaner in the cleaning position by placing one foot on the head of the machine, and reclining the body. This is demonstrated in the user guide.

If you're unable to do this, please get in touch with us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US), so we can run through some checks over the phone.

Kind regards,

Jack

Dyson 28 handle is stuck in the locked and upright position. Vac runs fine, just can't get the handle to release to run the vac

On the lower right side of the body of this model is a air duct piece that can get stuck and won't allow you to use the release. Take out that piece and put it back on again to see if that will unlock it.
