I have a Polaroid LCD and the sound makes hissing, popping, cracking, buzzing, buzzer-like, beeping, and a couple other noises. It's so sporadic. It's drivin me crazy. Any idea what this might be?

get a can of air and clean the whole inside of the back,if you smoke near it,it will collect dust faster and will need to be professionally cleaned

Buzzing until warmed up

This is caused by a defective capacitor in the power supply board. A very detailed answer is given by stiv0. His solution is for a "no power" or "black screen" condition, but this also fixed my noise on power up. I had noise that went away, but eventually it stayed on all the time. His explanation is correct except in describing how to get the back cover off. He says to take the 3 screws off the back of the black plastic cover on the back and then "pry" up the plastic. Actually if you slide the plastic down about 3/8 inch the cover will lift out easily. I fixed mine today in about an hour.

Hope this helps.

It is better you return it is still under manufacturers warranty. Anything you may do to the HDTV may void it's warranty. I work at an authorized service center and have seen too many times when people think they can fix something themselves and end up with a voided warranty. You really should take it in or have a authorized service center come to your home and check it out for you. In home service is offered by manufacturers and is normally covered by the warranty.

Anything you may be able to do to get it working this time will most likely happen again since it has happened before. Getting it serviced by an authorized service center may fix the problem permanently.

This may not be the answer you are looking for, but it is the smartest thing you can do. A little hassle now getting it fixed properly will probably save you money and more of a hassle in the future.

Hope this may help;

Polaroid lcd hdtv 27" buzzzz

thre are several components that can make a buzzing sound, especially a bad power component or capacitor. check the capacitors to make sure they are installed in the board correctly. the stripe on the cap must line up with the white mark on the board under it. remove the back panel lay the tv down on a blanket turn it on and see if you can isolate the noise component by ear up close. and visually check for swollen capacitors the top will be pushed up round if bad if good it will be flat on top. warning if tv is less than a year old make the place you bought it replace it. so you dont void the warranty.
