I HAVE A CS38 McColloch 16" chainsaw that needs a ignition module. I have looked everywhere and cannot locate a module similar to the one that is on it.
It's not the same as that of a CS380's module. Just need to know what to do with it. Thanks,Steve

Why are you needing the VATS module? If you are trying to bypass the VAST system, you only need the two wires at the base of the column that run to the ignition exciter ring.
Could be a problem with your ignition system. So you would not be getting spark at the spark plugs. How-to videos everywhere on how to test for spark. If you have no spark at any of the cylinders, then suspect the "ignitor". This little module is what controls the ignition coil on the car, giving you a spark to a spark plug at the right time. Could be something else, too, like the coil, but you could have the ignitor tested for free at any parts store. (On American cars, this module is known as the Ignition Control Module, or ICM.)
did you say scanner not powering up or you not getting any code.because if engine not firing a faulty crankshaft position sensor or ignition module will cause no spark conditions.also check 20 amp ignition fuse to ignition coils and ignition module, check ignition battery feed 10 amp fuse to the pcm.check at the 16 dlc terminal at top ground terminal 4 that would be fourth terminal top from left to right.and check bottom far right terminal 16 see if you getting getting battery power.if fuse all good no power at terminal 16 your pcm could be getting poor ground contact or problem in the pcm thats not a home fix dealership has to run diagnostic scan test look for pcm fault or wiring fault.
Hello. The ignition module is mounted under the ignition coils.Just follow the ignition wires from the spark plugs to the coils. The coils need to be removed from the module. There are two wire connectors to be removed as well. The setup is similar on both engines available in the SL line that year. Look at the coils carefully for burn marks from a possible errant spark discharge as this can damage your new module.Replace as necessary.
it sounds like an ignition component ( ignition module, coil, etc.) is heating up causing it to fail intermitently, look on ebay for ignition module it is located under the distributor cap.
1997 Ford Thunderbird Transmission problem
When driving normally transmission surges like it is not in gear. Had sensors replaced, nitural safety switch, and still acts up.
It should be underhood, driver side on upper firewall, it does not look like a typical ignition module, but I looked around and for your info, you can find a picture of it on autzone.com Hope this helps.
