Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV
I recently had a power outage and when power was restored, I had a fast blinking "Timer" light. The tv will not turn on. The tv is plugged into a surge protector. I tried the "System Reset" button, but it didn't work. I also unplugged it for 24 hours, but when I plugged the tv back in, the fast blinking light returned. Again, I tried the "System Reset" button, but it didn't work.
If this is a DLP, you may have problems on the FMT/DM boards in the sealed electrical chassis.
That's a big problem, because Mits doesn't make the DM/FMT boards available anymore. They are only available for rebuild from Mitsubishi and other qualified places.
There is a chance that there are some vented capacitors on the DM and FMT boards you might be able to replace, but it's for someone really comfortable with completely disassembling a set, soldering in 8 new caps and rebuilding the chassis.
Rebuilds will run you $400-$500 in rebuild costs and an additional $200-$400 in labor, depending on the joint.
