Picture problem I have a 42 inch philips pixel plus plasma tv. When I turn it on, I can hear the sound but my picture screen has faded, scrambled colors. It's hard to describe but it's fuzzy color patterns. can anyone help. Do I have a circuit that is burnt out or what?

My opinion is those Y main and the buffer are not in serious damage. If it malfunction, you will have no picture at all. The screen goes black in case the Y board goes off. If the buffers went off, you will see some black bars on the screen depending where the buffers function are.
Open the case and try to unplug all the cable (ribbons) that connect to Y board and buffers, then re-unplug and see if the problem solved.
Buffer are small, narrow boards lay at sides of the TV. Y board is big and has many devices which attached with head sink. Try to play DVD and see if you have same probem or not. Good luck

You need to replace the Ymain and the buffers. This is a very common problem with this set, and its magnavox and samsung counterparts. Look throught the other solved postings for a detailed description of how to dismantle and replace. Plan on spending at least $200 on this repair. Likely a bit more.

Sorry pal but that is simply not true. If the xmain and lower buffers fail, you may get vertical lines, but that is VERY uncommon. As a result of the ymain and the buffers failing you can have everything from a solid black screen to a picture that looks like spilled paint, even glowing colored blobs. My company has fixed well over a hundred of these specific tvs with the same problem just different manifestations of it. Send the ymain and buffers in for repair and you'll see what I mean. There is a seller on ebay, itritek, that repairs them on a case by case basis. He does good work. Pixels are going out on an olevia 42 inch tv. can they be repaired?

What do mean by pixels are going out? Do you get scrambled pictures/rolls/ pixelated?
If you can get parts, then anything can be repaired. Does it look something like my pictures here?

You have a burn in problem from watching widescreen movies. If you have access to a signal generator or tv setup disc run a perfectly white screen on the plasma for about 30 min. This should help even out the pixels on the display.
