My iBOOk problem in detecting External HD Buffalo

Just brought Buffalo MiniStation Turbo 320GB but when inserted it into my USB Port..no detection..Try so many times pluck in & off but still no detection..Also try to install Memeo Quick but no use..PLS HELP!! dont know what to do..Note : Try it with normal Windows PC - can be detected..but why my iBook cant detected it?? my version is 10.4.11
