SOURCE: Poulan-Pro 295 leaks excessive bar-chain oil

It's a seal somewhere either on the reservoir, or the 'feed' to the bar.
But in the short term, if you must use it, the simplest way of stopping the leak, is to not store it with any oil in it, until you locate the source of the leak.
That should help, but I'll wish you good luck never the less ;)
& plz don't forget to rate, thankyou :)

My chainsaw leaks oil out of a small hole or drain just below the base of the bar. is there anyway to way to stop this

are you sure you aren't talking about the chain oiler system? There is to be a small amount of oil to lubricate the bar and chain.

McCulloch 14" chain saw Model CS 38 EM It quit

Most often there is a dust-oil clog in the bottom of the bar slot which closes an oil passage between the bar slot and the hole drilled half way through the side of the bar. This provides a passage between the thin shim plate with the two bar bolt holes beside the bar and through to the oil tank or pump output. You can remove the bar and chain and punch out the blockage in the bar with a paper clip if the chain is removed. Make sure the wire can be pushed from the bar slot right through the side hole in the bar. A gravity feed chainsaw should leak right out into the slot of the shim plate, a button pumper should squirt out there with the bar removed. With a button pumper you may have a tiny check valve in the line or the push button to take apart, replace the spring or unstick the ball inside the check valve. This is why they went to the gravity feed oil system which just leaks in there and gets picked up by the bottom of the links as the chain races past the passage between the bar side hole and the chain slot.

Excessive oil leaking while running from bar oil port

It might not be just excess. Try taking off the chain and bar and cleaning the groove on the bar with a wire brush and also the holes at the sprocket end. They could have build up of sawdustin them. Also dust out the cover and area around the clutch/sprocket. This should make a difference.

Auto oiler doesn't work

http://www.mccullochpower.com
you may need a new pump
check out there parts break down will help u find out what u need
you may not need a new oil pump you may just have blockage
clean the **** out of the parts behind the bar and clean the clutch good
the bar has the grooves the chain runs in and need to clean real good at the back where it bolts on and you will see a hole, thats where the oil goes into the bar so the chain can pick it up.
every 3 to 5 tanks of gas. or whenever you sharpen the chain you must clean the oil holes.
you may also have a pluged cap
the oil cap has a vent to let air in
if air cant get in oil cant get out. clean and inspect all the parts and you should find out if the oil pump is bad
you may just be as simple as needing cleaned
but with out oil you may have burned the pump, bar, chain , and clutch out of it.
hope this help
good luck

Chain oil keeps leaking out..how can I stop it ???

First, make sure you're using bar & chain oil, it's very thick and won't leak out like motor oils will. When you're done using the saw, store it with the blade side of the saw up. Not always convienent, but the oil will run away from the blade oil channels and not leak out.

remove side cover, bar & chain.above bar mounting studs find a oblong channel that lines up w/ the small holes in the bar.clean everything, sawdust gets packed in the holes.if it leaks oil out the bottom, you need to replace the oil feed line fom the tank.

I think the problem is the funny rubber-hose-connection of the oil tank to the oil pump. It looks quite flimsy to me... But if you want I can have a look how this screw is adjusted...Bye, also tom
