Question about Sony Handycam DCR-SR200 Camcorder
Display is almost dark, it is very difficult to see what´s on. It seems like a problem with the low light on a display. Could you solve it?
I just got done fixing mine with the same problem. Initially the camera would "short out" when I opened the display, then went totally dark. I got the cable above that Amjii suggested (even though it is listed as for the SR300), and started taking it apart. The hardest part is remembering which screws go where. I did it in under an hour. I figured what the heck, Sony wanted at least $250 to fix it, and the machine didn't cost much more than that!
If you attempt this, there are a few things that will help: 1. It is easier if you take both sides of the outer shell off first. 2. Don't break the tape on the hard drive on the bottom. When you take the shell off the hard drive can fall out and rip the tape. 3. The display cover comes off by turning the display and removing the screws near the hinge. You won't be able to do this until you remove the left outer shell with the display on it. 4. You need to have an understanding about how the tapes go in. The biggest inner tape (under the tiny tape that doesn't need to be removed!) just pushes in with the tabs on the sides. The others have a black or white connector that either A. pulls straight out a little bit, and then gets pushed back in when you get the tape in or B. hinges out and gets pushed back in when you get the tape in. There is a tape on the upper body that I found easier to disconnect on the right side and replace the left first then back into the right side. 5. There is a small tape that goes to a switch on the hinge that turns the display upside down when you flip the display. That was the hardest for me to figure out when putting it back together because I didn't pay attention when opening. The replacement tape get wrapper around the hinge counter-clockwise and the clipped with a black clip onto the round hinge. Then when you put the grey and silver covers back onto the hinge, the small switch is sandwiched between and is held in place under a small metal flange thing. Make sure the glued spots (there are two) are replaced.
I understand that none of this will make sense until you start to do it yourself. If you are hesitant I would have a service center do it. I just saved myself at least $250!

The problem is in your camera is PWB FP-610 and its part number is 1-871-457-21 which needs to be replaced, and the problem will solve, and infect the said part can only change by an expert because the procedure is bit difficult therefore contact any expert or prefferably contact SONY SERVICE CENTRE nearby.
Thanks for using fixya.
