Its not dangerous, its expensive. That ammonia smell means that your heating unit is shot, needs to be replaced, and there are a coupla ways to go here.

1) Order up a rebuilt (or new) online, and replace it yourself. (Handyman skill level:fair.) $500.

2) Go to an RV repair shop and have that done $700.00 - $100.00

3) Buy a new fridge. $1000.00 +

Smells of petrol

Have a mechanic locate the leak, this is dangerous. A pot of water will absorb gas vapors, to keep it from spilling put a towel in it.

There's a strong smell (fumes) coming from the printer. I felt high the first day and I had a funny feeling in my throat on one side. Some say it smells like a hot blow dryer or burning smell. I need to...

The odor is coming from what is called the 'fuser' which heats and bonds the toner to the paper stock. There may be some light residue from the manufacture of the fuser roller which is heated to a high temperature to enable the fusing to take place. It may linger for several days but is unlikely to be hazardous in nature otherwise Samsung wouldn't allow it to remain on the assembly. Laser printers often smell 'hot' due to this process but I have not heard of any hazard caused by fumes. One caveat though; the fuser roller is coated with Teflon or an equivalent coating. I nearly died from Teflon which was in a gaseous state many years ago but it was exposed to temperatures of greater than 450F which is dangerous since the effect is that of a nerve gas called phosgene. Since that is a temperature one can easily reach on a stove-top, we have NO coated cookware in our home.
If you notice that the plastic near the warmest place on your machine feels uncommonly hot, it might be best to shut it down since it may be possible for the thermostatic control to fail so the fuser is heated to an abnormally high temperature. I'm fairly sure there is a thermal fuse to prevent catastrophic failure but wouldn't count on it.

When i run my fire place it smells strongly of gas and it smells hot?

Hi, if you are smelling gas you need to turn it off now. Call your local gas company and tell them you have a gas leak. They will come out asap on something like this as it can be very dangerous. There is no charge to you for this service.

Strong fuel smell from AC

If you're experiencing a strong fuel smell, there's most likely a leak in the engine compartment. The AC will cool incoming air unless the "recirculate" button is pressed. The incoming air is what has the fuel smell, indicating a leak in the engine compartment. CAUTION: leaking fuel in the engine compartment is extremely dangerous and can lead to a fire. Please have the car diagnosed by a professional immediately.

Potent smell from fridge when turned off...

refrigerant gas can be harmful in high concentration but a regular home refrig does not have enough refrigerant to be dangerous unless directly inhaled at the leak ( it would disipate faster than it ould build up) plus refrigerant is odorless and colorless so you probably wouldnt even know if it was leaking.

Your odor is most likely from a missed food item still in the frig or something that altho cleaned up left an odor behind. the most common culprit is citrus fruits. when they go bad they will leave a gaseous smell behind.
thanks for using FixYa hope that answers your question. Peyton
