Question about Garmin StreetPilot i3 GPS Receiver

Wont pickup satellites

Hi there i am having a problem with my garmin i3 street pilot as recently it just comes up on the screen as locating satellites,do you have any knowledge of how to get it working again cheers.

Was near Chicago and lost satelites. Since that time I continue to get message locating satellites. Just seems like cpu is locked up in the search mode.

WARNING: This will erase ALL user data on the device. You'll have to re-enter your custom addresses, etc...

To erase all user data on the device, please follow these steps:

With the unit turned off press and hold the thumb wheel down, then press the back arrow and hold down, then press the power button.
When all 3 are held down a message will appear that reads "DO YOU REALLY WANT TO ERASE ALL USER DATA". Select "Yes".
Let go of the buttons and go through the reset sequence. The unit will need to sit outside to acquire satellites.

More than likely when you reinstalled the gps receiver (the board with the wires connected to it) at the top of the receiver you did not position it properly. If it is not positioned properly it will not receive a satellite signal

I had the same issue with the only difference that I haven't replaced the battery yet. When my unit can't locate or acquire satellites I change between GPS and WAAS mode. Within 45 seconds my unit successfully locates satellite. After some time if I disconnect unit I might have to switch it back to GPS and so on, and so on, and so on. It worked for me for past 3 months... Hope it will help you...

I have a garmin i3 street pilot, and recently broke the charger conection on the head set is there any service centre locations where i could get it fixed in ireland thanks conor

The street Pilot Series also has a side connection for the computer with the mini-USB cable that you can plug a Nuvi charger into and it will work and charge the unit.

When you say you are clicking on the map, are you just using your mouse pointer to click or have you actually selected the Map Select tool at the top of your Mapsource screen?
