Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

Leaking water from a whirlpool AWM - 293 front loader

I've had a whirlpool AWM - 293 front loader since 2000 and have noticed that a I'm getting a fair amount of water now with quite a bit of detergent leaking onto the laundry floor. have read a previous post and try turning the water pressure down altho do think that there is a crack in some piping in the machine.

if you've had a similar problem and could shed some light as to how to fix this problem then would be great to hear from you

I too have this model machine. The leak in my case traced to the fill up hose that attaches to the drum. The seal at this point seems to be a weak point and requires either a replacement that will only last another couple of years or you could try what I did.

I removed the rubber hose from the drum. Dried and cleaned it thoroughly. placed a fair bit of sealant (silcone) on both parts and reassembled and let sit for a couple of days till it cured. This will need to be redone in about 3 years (that is my average- have owned it for 10years).

My whirlpool model AWM 293/3 is leaking. whenever the water from the water faucet is on, the water leaking everywhere. what can i do about it? thank you

Check your inlet pipe connection to see that it is not loose or leaking, next check the inlet valve solenoid that it is not cracked. If there is nothing wrong with the inlet solenoid the water should not be able to get any further into the machine.

How do i clean a filter of a whirlpool awm 5080 front loader

If you are talking about the drain pump strainer, you need to remove the lower front panel. should be 3 screws on the bottom facing forward. Once you have that off, the pump strainer is almost in the center, facing you. unscrew it counterclockwise to remove.

Washing cycle starts and takes hours even for short cycle.

Try checking for good water supply.
Pull out detergent tray and check for good water supply during filling.
if poor filling-
Try checking the hoses.
Turn taps off, disconnect from machine, place hose end in sink, turn tap on and check for good water flow.
if the hose has a red indicator in the side of the hose (end which is fitted to the tap) - Red indicator is a failed hose.(for models with Water Stop hose type "B")

Water leaking out slightly from detergent dispenser draw and is starting to rust down left hand front side of machine, checked all water supply and drain hoses but leak appears to be coming from high up...

Your water pressure may be a liitle too high for the machine to handle. Try turning the water valves for the hot and cold water down a bit to reduce the pressure and try it again.

Smelly, top loading, Whirlpool washing machine

Whirlpool has a new product out called affesh www.affresh.com it is supposed to help with cleaning out your unit. Keep in mind that it took a while to get into that state, so it might take a bit to get out of it. Some things to consider, the amount of detergent that you are using along with the amount of fabric softener, cut back on both. Remember with front loads you have much less water, so you don't need too much product in there. One of the be detergents on the market that I have found is called Persil, it is from Germany, costs a bit more but works great. As well you don't have to use too much of it 25ml or 1/8 of a cup, so it goes a long way, and no real odour build up that I have found.
