you should be able to look through the settings of the phone for data usage and find out which app is using data. My phone it was Google apps that were accessing the data in the background.

Does the New apple update to OS10 does it use data while on wifi and double charge users?

I have not seen that happen. I am on my home wifi 90% of the time and my cellular data usage has not changed. In my cellular settings I turn off most of my apps from being able to use cellular data, I only allow my important apps to use cellular data when not on wifi and this helps control usage in general, but I have not had to change it with the 10.0.x updates.

On your smartphone, you can turn data usage on and off. So if you use your laptop as some sort of hotspot, or if you connect to a wireless network through a wireless router, then in theory you are not using the data component of your smartphone plan.

But to absolutely positively stop your phone from using data when you are using a wirelss hotspot to facebook etc, you should turn off data usage on your phone. You can switch data on and off. You will still receive text (SMS) messages and phone calls when data is off.

Under settings on your phone look for Mobile Networks > Data Connection. There should be a setting that lets you turn it on and off.

On my Huawei it is under Wireless & Settings > Mobile Networks >Data Connection.

How to turn off GPRS setting Nokia Lumia 520?

You can do 3 things on Nokia Lumia 520
1) to use Data Sense (an windows app) to control your mobile data usage by limiting it to a certain level like 100MB a month or something.
2) to turn mobile data usage off on your phone, by going to Setting> Mobile Network then choose "off" option for Data Connection.
3) to contact your Mobile Network ISP & request a Data Connection deactivation.

My data usage went from 20& to 100% in 24 hours while my phone was being charged. I did not use my phone for 24 hrs. how can this happen

Could you be a little more specific? How much data is on your plan? Do you turn off your mobile data when not in use? Not using it and turning it off are two different things. Are you set to auto update apps? You have TSR's, Terminate and Stay Resident programs that run in the background. Did you forget to shut down apps that use data in the background? but mostly I have to refer back to the first question because without that answer it is a shot in the dark to see the bigger picture. Look up your usage in your mobile's data management program and it will tell you exactly what was sucking up all your data to the megabyte. Hope that helps. Good luck Sharon. :)

What is data ready in phone status settings

data ready means that your phone is data capable, which means it can browse the internet or be "tethered", which is basically connecting your phone to your computer, to be used as a modem, with speeds anywhere from 56Kbps - 768Kbps....depending on your carrier......this is also not recommended unless you have an "unlimited data" plan, and some carries will STILL charge you for data usage past a certain amount.

it just means you have some sort of data package on your plan, or your phone will SUPPORT a data package. call your fcell provider to make sure, before you go browsing the internet on your phone, because if you dont have any data plan, they will charge you an arm and a leg.

HAVE DATA USAGE BUT I NEVER GO ONLINE ON MY PHONE

You may have the service provider turn the feature off on your account. I did this with Sprint as they were regularly adding data charges to my bill when I used none, and since the feature was turned off there have been no more billing overages.
I hope this helps you and good luck.
