SOURCE: I have a Whirlpool side
Humm thats a good one, but I will try to help you out. First off you say the icemaker is new, so does that mean you bought the icemaker and installed it on the refrigerator. Or is the refrigerator new and it has an icemaker. If you installed the icemaker new on an older refrigerator you can have a few problems. Most likely the freezer is not getting cold enough for the icemaker to cycle on its own. Especially if you are peaking in every few minutes like I would be doing. The icemaker will start a new cycle when the temperatur hits 0 degrees. If the freezer is only getting to 5 degrees the icemaker will not cycle. In that case the problem would be with the refrigerator not the icemaker. If the freezer is getting to 0 degrees then you may want to take that icemaker back and get a replacement. Good luck and I hope I helped. [email protected]

You definitely have something wrong with the ice maker if the water has turned to ice Schmerold. And the IM is not harvesting. The way it works is the IM needs 28 degrees F to harvest. If the coils below in the condenser are dirty the IM won't try to harvest. The Ice Mold thermostat is mounted on the firewall of the Ice mold in its own little cubby whole. To access it you will need to remove the head. Then remove the shell separating the Ice mold from the heads housing. There you will find the ice mold thermostat. It's only function is to get it on. If the temperature is right in the freezer. To test this precious thermostat one needs only to stick it into a freezer and let it hang out for an hour or so. Then grab it and check it for continuity. If it is open it has failed and belongs in the file 13. It is easily replaced and inexpensive.
On your model, ice maker operation is controlled by an optical sensor mounted on both sides of the freezer liner. The usual failure of this model is a bad emitter board, located in one of these recesses. You may view the service instructions for checking this sensor.

Ok, I show parts that are available for that model, sounds like the control board is defective for your dispenser, or possibly the Ice maker control board. It also could be a break in the wiring or the control itself. Below is a break down for those parts, wiring and the control behind the push to dispense ice or water. Hope it is not that control because some places don't provide that part. Now if it's a connection problem that we can find, I will do mu best to help you solve this.Could you insure the model number is correct as this is very important? [email protected]

I have the same model. This has happened to me several times (usually when the door was kept ajar without notice).
Simply open the door, take a common hairdryer and blow at high speed (hottest also) all around the area of where you can feel the ice in the tray, but hasn't dumped yet. It will usually take about 5-8 minutes of consistently moving back and forth around that area. What has happened is the lines bringing water to the trays have frozen over. When you "thaw" them out, the ice made will dump in about 45 minutes. When you hear the ice fall, you will know it's in working order again. I have NOT heard this is a "flawed" icemaker, only that it is hypersensitive to freezing lines when a door is left ajar. In your case, to prevent this from happening again. If you shut the icemaker off again, make SURE you turn off the source of the water feed BEFORE you turn off the ice maker. By doing this, the lines will empty as it makes it's last tray of water. Try that - very confident it will fix your problem!
The problem is one of two places,
the ice maker is the reason or the dual water control valve=> 4389177
Try pouring tap water inside the ice maker if cubes are not there. Let freeze
and if ice drops into the ice bucket then the water control valve on the side
that feeds ice maker is bad. GS5SVAXVA00 Parts
List Look up in the scrollbar and go to page 17 and you will see the water
control valve listed an item 5 and item 15 is the ice maker thermostat. That or
the ice maker module are most times at fault if the water control valve for ice
maker side had 120vac connected to it water would possibly flow. I have found
that sometime if the ice maker is bad just to replace would be the best route,
Tell me how the water test goes and if someone has a multi meter or ohm meter I
will answer how to test those components, Thanks, Sea Breeze
