Check your wires in your computer if you had built it. Some of the wires might be bad. And check to see if you have any programs that might cause this also.

I have an ATAPI DVD A DH16ABSH Dvd CD rom in my Gateway computer. It keeps on disappearing and reappearing in the computer. This computer was bought back in January. What makes it do this?

Sound like the Connectivity cable is either loose or there is a problem with your dvd rom burner check the cable that it connects to if it looks fine then contact or return the dvd rom burner for a different one

I had the same problem on my Samsung plasma set. There's a firmware update on Samsung's web site that fixes the problem. You'll need to download the update to a thumb drive, un-zip it and plug the thumb drive into your set. Then using the menu button on the remote control, scan to the software area and load the fix. The directions are on their site. Make sure you get the fix for your set's model number; it's not a generic fix.
Apparently, the fix lowers the voltage to an internal component and that fixes the red snow. Worked for me!

Hi, There is nothing wrong with your CD/DVD drive.

Your Registry is corrupt. Now you are missing the Upper or Lower filters(or both) on your CD/DVD drive.

Try System Restore and here's a Microsoft article on the subject.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060

IF OUR CD DRIVE WHICH IS MY COMPUTER FILE IS GONE(IN MY COMPUTER IT HAS DISAPPEARED) THEM FROM WHERE WILL I DOWNLOAD NEW LG SUPER MULTI DRIVE INSTALLER?

Hi Kundan,

Its not that you need to install anything to make your CD or DVD drive reappear in the My Computer list of Drives. The answer lies elsewhere.

CAUTION / WARNING!: Go ahead and follow these steps only if you are confident of doing it. Else get it done from a hardware engineer.

1. Switch OFF your PC's power supply and unplug it from the AC mains outlet.
2. Open the cover of your PC & look for the data cable connecting your CD/DVD drive to the motherboard.
3. Remove the data cable from the motherboard end and put it back in the same manner.
4. Do the same on the CD/DVD Drive's end as well.
5. Also remove and put in again the power socket of the CD/DVD Drive.
6. put back the PC's cover.
7. Plug in your PC to the AC Mains and switch ON the power.
8. Start you PC and let it boot normally.
8a. Go into your CMOS setup (by either pressing the Del key or the F2 key) whatever the case
might be. Here, look for auto detection of the drives attached to the motherboard's SATA or
IDE ports (again whatever your case may be) If it shows your drives i.e. Hard drive and the
CD/DVD drive then it should appear when you restart your PC. Press F10 and say Y in the
Save & Exit Setup window. This will save your CMOS settings and reboot.
9. Once everything has started up and you see your desktop with its icons & everything, go in My Computer and see again for the CD/DVD drive. It must appear.

If it still doesn't appear then try this:

WebCam & DVD not working

I want you to physically remove your DVD rom for your unit - locking screw located in the belly area with a sort of clock symbol - under power hit ejest to open the dvd drawer - then with the screw removed & unit powered off gently pull the dvd unit out then power the unit on - you'll most likely find the webcam will be ok. It's called and ECD502 device access error. there is a firmware and bios fix for your unit on the HP.COM website.
