The incline is trying to calibrate if you let it do it till it is done it should stop. If it continually trys to incline every time you use it there is a incline sensor out of position or the console is bad.

Inclines down, declines up

The unit has likely been disassembled and put back together incorrectly. The incline/decline motor runs on direct current, and reversing the polarity of the terminals on this motor will cause this exact problem. If it has not ever been serviced, I would look on the manufactures website for a software update, or fix.

Not incline or declining

I expect there is a limiter switch that tells the treadmill when it has reached its maximum elevation. The switch is probably either malfunctioning or broke.

When starting my treadmill the incline just starts all by itself, all the way up, sounds like it would keep going if it could, then it declines, its stuck in this loop. the belt never starts and I cannot...

This sounds like the treadmill is running an incline calibration. It will run to fully inclined, then to minimum incline.
It should not do this every time you want to operate the machine, but they will do it automatically if the operation of the machine is stopped by the power being interrupted..

My gear shift is stuck in park

i first have too ask if your'e on an incline/decline. if so its torchlock. which means there is alot of pressure on the gear (the wieght of the car). in whch you will have too have someone too rock your car back/forth until you can pull it out of gear. if not on an incline/decline your cable from your brake pedal to your shifter could be broken disengaged. take your ignition key an put it in the little slot on the panel where your shifter is located, push down and pull the gear out of park. the slot may be hid by a little small cover that prys off pretty easily. its there to keep thieves from pushing your car down the street if they cant strart it

Proform 550xp Treadmill in continuous incline/decline mode!!!

i just called the manufacturer on this and found out i have a faulty control panel, but these are the steps they told me to go through to reset. If it works, then you are good, if not, you may also have a control panel issue.
1. plug in and turn on treadmill, keep red key out
2. press and hold the stop button and speed up button at the same time and hold them while you insert the red key
3. after red key is inserted, let go of both buttons
**CAUTION - be sure to stand on side bars of treadmill, clear of the belt for this next part bc it will go VERY FAST***
4. press stop button once
5. press speed up button until it reads 85 (see what i mean?!)
6. press stop button once
7. press incline down or up one time and it should get back into normal mode. mine just started a series of flashing lights and "8"s in all the "windows" so my panel needs to be replaced. here is the number i called - 1-877-993-7999. Good Luck!

Incline stuck @ 10 but reads as if it's on 0 incline. doesn't want to decline

I don't know what model you have, but on some treadmills in the front there is an adjustment by a t-bit screw for calibration. You may want to try and unplug it and have someone hold the incline button while you replug it. Sometimes the program gets a glitch and a fresh restart from being unplugged corrects it. If you could list your model and brand I could be more detail specific.
