RCA P52937 Flyback Transformer question

I have an RCA P52937 rear projection TV that needs the flyback transformer replaced. I was going to try and tackle it myself but I'm unable to remove the large red lead going from the flyback to the other transformer mounted on the chasis. Any suggestions tips or manuals would be greatly appreciated.

Re: RCA P52937 Flyback Transformer question

The lead going from the flyback to that other device is a voltage divider or splitter as they're incorrectly referred to... To remove the leads press down firmly, twist and then pull up...

My 60' RCA big screen won't turn on and it has a ticking noise coming from the back, like if it's a bomb

the ticking noise is a shorted horizontal output transistor which is loading the 140 source from the power supply

and its a good bet your flyback transformer is bad also

if its a ptk195
its repairable and the parts are available the transformer wil be a after market and if your going to try and repair it your self make sure you get a hr there a better transformer

Where can i get a flyback for a rca 52 projection tv m#p52937yx2? I read all day and it seems to be the fix? wont go on and has a clicking sound that persists untill you unplug it.

1.) RCA no longer sells this part--a company called ASTI makes a replacement for the RCA #250694---they call it #2086

2.) If you go to Ebay you will find seller "sewsales55" sells this replacement transformer for 19.95 plus shipping--type in search 250694 and you will see it--they sell lots of parts and give a 6 month warranty--fyi--If I was you I would check the HORZ output transistor--usually it is bad also---I have repaired dozens of these sets with this trouble-usually just the flyback transformer and the output transistor.

Need to know how to install a flyback in 2004 52 in RCA tv.

First and foremost, disconnect the power cord from the mains.
Next, after having removed the back cover from the set, discharge the tubes' residual high-voltage to ground using a suitable tool.
Access to the transformer is pretty much staightforward here.
A few hardware removals and you can then get to the board and transformer..
Mark, then remove all leads that go to the unit.
INstallation is the reverse of removal.
Be sure to replace the driver device, just to be certain...accordianman

No sound no picture

That is usually caused by the horizontal output cisrcuit or the flyback. Can you post the chassis number as RCA has to be diagnosed by chassis number.

Tv will turn on

i believe the problem is the flyback transformer. try cleaning by using a small aerosal can. this will either correct the problem or you might have to replace it.

flyback transformer stores energy so i would suggest hiring a professional technician.

Tv will not turn on with remote or when I press the power button on the tv.

The P52960 uses the PTK195 series chassis. The most common cause of that set not starting up is a shorted flyback transformer. It is quite easy to test and replace the flyback transformer in that chassis, but that should be done by a qualified tech experienced in RCA projection sets.

No power

The P52937 uses the PTK195 series chassis. If the TV makes a squeeling noise the instant it is plugged in then unplug it immediately and do not plug it back in. I have seen this many, many times. The flyback (high voltage) transformer has shorted out and the extra current it was drawing has shorted out the horizontal output transistor, so the B+ supply is dead shorted and the power supply squeels as a result. This is very common in that chassis. The flyback and output transistor will have to be replaced by someone with experience in RCA projection TV's. The HV block in the PTK169 sets is the one known to be bad a lot - the block in the 195 is very reliable and I have never seen one of those bad.
