The washing was working fine and during a wash my daughter came along and pressed the buttons on the front of the machine whilst it was operating. Now the machine has stopped working. The drum will not spin no matter what programme is selected. The water etc is fine and it does drain. The problem is the drum will not spin.

Hi..yes it does sound like the motor is spinning. At first I thought it might be the belt but then I thought perhaps a problem might have occurred on the front panel after my daughter pressed the buttons. All was working well until the buttons were pressed whilst the machine was in operation. Thanks

Hi...right I opened the back and checked the belt and the belt is fine. It has not snapped or fallen off. I tried a programme whilst the back was off and the motor does not spin. I also checked the resistance by turning the drum by hand and there is a little resistance.
Any other suggestions please?
What can you say to a 15 month old!

Another update...not sure if this helps to pinpoint the fault. When I put it on spin, the timer starts at 11 minutes then when it goes down to 10 minutes, it goes straight to 1 minute and the machine stops.

Hi Prem...on the model bosch exxcel 1100 maxx on the fron there is start, reduced time, rinse plus buttons and spin dial and programme dial only. There is no 'auto', 'select','end of cycle' or 'pre-wash'buttons. Any other suggestions please? Thanks

Hi...roughly how much does the control board cost? Is it possible to just replace parts on the control or does the whole board need replacing? Thanks

I'm afraid even Chris got it wrong. Good job i didn't go and buy a new control panel. That would have cost me a lot for no reason. No one who replied here got it right. An engineer came out and carried out the work. He didn't even touch the front panel. The machine is working again.
I have exactly the same problem as fusion007's. the spin cycle has stopped working, everything else is fine. The spin cycle alone starts at 11 mins, moves to 10 mins and then straight down to 1 minute without actually spinning. What did the repairman do to fix it?

my front load kenmore washer machine has stop working
Well, I failed to find your product but found close and I've read the manual and can see no sign of anything being able to be presed that would stop motor operating in its wash cycles, I take it that you have totally drained/removed clothing and let machine get to normal start position, and done the standard disconnect from power, and plug it back in and test again and make sure no flashing lights are present and door is locking correctly
Possibility exists that your balance switch is faulty I'd look at that if not then Either motor is dead or control board is faulty
If you know your way around electricity then you could test if power is being supplied to motor.
As for the count losing 10 mins then thats pointing to control board fault (quite possible due to operations panel being operated)
i think your prob is not simple if anybody tell u do this or tat don't
do it because i have a same prob but my fault is try myself and it
becomes more disable and father beaten me so acc to my opinion go to the expert and where u buy this he normaled your problem don't worry i do the same thing and u again enjoy WARNING: DO NOT OPEN YOURSELF IF U HAVE TRUST ON ME MY ID IS mango4529@rediffmail.com

sometimes a tumble drier overheats and knocks itself off to emliminate
this check if there is a red reset button at the back if there is press
it .after you think the machine has cooled done try it again even if no
button ,have you had clothes that have been to wet in it ,again wait
till it cools or maybe you overloaded it,
These are things that have been a problem on my tumble driers over past
yrs if nothing works after trying these it either needs a new belt or
motor.

Does it sound like the motor is spinning?
I'm thinking it could just be a coincidence and the drive belt may have snapped or fallen off.
Comment again and one of us will help you some more regarding this.

Could you try something?
Open the door of the washer and try turning the drum by hand. You should just feel a little resistance from the motor.
It is not possible for the motor to spin without the drum going around. Unless the drum is jammed or the belt is broken.
I hope your daughter is in the clear!

hey. i hate to say it but it sounds like the control board is shorted after the buttons were all pushed like that. this model only has one control board and it powers everything. i am a bosch authorized tech. i have seen this same problem before. youll need to have the control replaced to fix the washer.

the whole board would need to be replaced. depending on which board you have the part could run from 150 to 300
