I had the same problem as most of you. I was on vacation and had been taking pictures all week long and then suddenly...the LCD screen was pitch black. I have had the camera for nearly four years and it has served me well up until now.

Re: LCD Screen went black!!!
I had the same problem. The flex cable for backlight was broken. I take
out the backlight LED module. There have one resister along with 4 LED.
I soldered two wires (AWG 30) onto two sides of resistor. Just follow
the trace of flex cable and then solder the wires to the pins of
connector directly. Although there have 4 wire on the backlight cable,
it only need two to work.
In order to avoid any finger print and dust fall on to the LCD, it
would better wear a hat and plastic glove during this operation.

TV Has Sound But No Picture Troubleshooting Guide - Duration: 2:30. by Repair.com 472,733 views. 2:30. LG LCD TV REPAIR -NO PICTURE ...
The water has ruined the LCD, water and electronics seldom mix, you are lucky it still will at least take pictures. If it is a high end model then send it back to the Factory repair center listed in the user manual (or phone number to find a repair center).
Hi, I have a 38" Philips LCD and I had the same problem. Sometimes, with the flat-panel LCD's and Plasmas, the sensitive light equipment inside the set just craps out. With my TV, I had had it for about a week when all of a sudden the picture just went black. I would suggest taking the TV back to the store from where it was purchased - that's what I did, and I got a replacement. Your set might be a lemon :( Sorry for the bad news - hope it helps.
This is not good. Was your tv unplugged or just power button off when you left for vacation. PlasmaTvs are highly susceptible to damage from power surges caused by lighting. Leave unplugged for at least five minutes then plug back in and see if this helps.
try to check the sensor light on the upper left part and press it maybe its a little loose only....because i had the same problem a while ago and when i press the one connected to the sensor light.... a small brown board, it works properly...maybe yours is a little loose also....no need to pay try this one first....
