Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My laptop connection worked OK for awhile. My ISP provides connectio via high speed modem Comtrend. I took my laptop home and tried to set up printer sharing with my home desktop via another WBR 1310 router, but was not successful. My ISP home is via Rogers cable. When I came back to my cottage my connection would not work. My ISP got me connected via cable but said router was not his to fix. So I called Dlink support and spent about 3 hours but I still cannot connect to the internet via the router. He managed to help me set up a high speed wireless connection that talks to the cptr OK but it has nothing to do with the PPPOE or whatever is required by the Comtrend modem. I don't know what I am doing. I have suspicions that my efforts at home made some changes in my laptop settings that have to be reset for the modem here. I wish I could start all over again but I don't know how to do that either. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. ronhansen@hurontel.on.c\ 519-529-7313

With these wireless issues I honestly feel its best to get someone to come over, I think you noticed when you where on the phone for 3 hours that you guys didn't get very far.

These wireless issues are difficult to solve over the internet or even on the phone, I would recommend you get someone to come over and sort it out completely.

ofcourse if your not happy with my suggestion you can continue to get assistance from this website from other people.

to fully reset a modem or wireless, hold down the reset button for atleast 30 seconds, this will restore default settings and you should be able to connect instantly, note that all the settings, passwords, and wireless network name go back to the default factory values that read on the user manual.

How to find security key for comtrend Nexuslink 3100u

Check on the router itself. Some ISPs have a pre-determined WPA password encoded into the router when delivered to the customer. It may be on a label affixed to the unit. Otherwise, you may have to log into the router itself (if your ISP allows this) and change the password to something you can then use for all your devices.

No ip on comtrend ar-5381u, will not connect to internet

DO NOT INSERT A PAPER CLIP TO RESET THE MODEM! unless you know how to reprogram the router, this includes having complete knowledge of ALL the settings required by the ISP AND having your username and modem password (modem authentication passwords are not usually provided to the customer) Doing a "hard boot" will only return your modem to factory settings

How to activate facebook without wifi?

Accessing Facebook needs internet connection. Without any active connection, you will not be able to connect to internet.
Internet connection option for such devices:
Mobile phone:1. GPRS - settings will be coming from your mobile service provider, data rates will be deducted from your load credits.2. Wi-fi connection - needs active wireless connection from your modem/router/gateway. Charges will be applied via ISP 9internet service provider)

I cannot connect to my home wireless network provided by my new ISP, after I ended my subscription to my old ISP. Connection via old ISP was via Dial Up; connection via new ISP is via broadband. I have a...

First of all you may try to check the adapter settings on your computer.

Start>control panel>network and sharing center>adapter settings>check status of broadband(should be connected)

If not right click on broadband connetio and click on connect if still showing as disconnected

You may also check internet option settings.
open IE>tools]nternet options?>connection tab>tick on never dial a connection.
Click on LAN settings tick on automatically detect settings>ok

You may also check for the if the driver for your wireless broadand is working by checking it on device manager.

Try to check if broadband is working on the other computer.

The modem is probably still looking for the MAC address of your laptop at this point.
You need to unplug the modem AND the 902.
Power up the modem first and give it a minute to let the lights settle then power up the 902
Once the 902 is powered up and it's lights have settled down, start powering up devices that connect to the 902.
You may be surprised that this is all it takes!

Want to hook laptop up to home computer via cable modem

You need a router or a wireless router to do that.
If your cable modem is wireless you can set directly via wireless network a connection with your laptop (the laptop also need a wireless card (if dont have any built in))
The connection must be done in this way

ISP ----->> Cable Modem ---->> Wireless Router o Router ----->> Computer ( 1, 2, or more)
